Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

do you have rubbing issues? i have the same wheels and want these tires, but all i have for lift is the daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift. not sure what kind of rubbing issues i'll have

Sorry for the delay in response. I had to push the front wheel liner forward. trim a little of the front plastic fender, and remove the front mud flaps. All minor changes but afterwards I didn't have any rubbing and its not noticeable.

New wheels

Finally got my American Outlaw on.

Ome 884 with spacer and 895e. Running 285/70/17 with a 0 offset. No rubbing to the body mounts. Had to take the front mud flaps and have to push the fender liner forward. Haven't decide if I should take the front spacer out yet .

Looking to see if I can run 275/70R18's on my 07 V8 Limited. Bilsteins Front and rear. Front is set to max 2.5, Moog 81088 coils (had a hard time getting my hands on Front OEM FJ springs) spc uca, Rear Springs from a FJ + air lift 1000 and 1.5'' Daystar spacer. Currently running stock 265/60r18's. Current dimensions: Front- ground to fender 36 5/8'', top of tire to fender 7 1/2". Rear- 37 3/8 ground to fender, 8" top of tire to the fender. Would any modifications need to be done to fit 275/70's and if so which ones?

IMHO add some lift in the rear instead.

YOu should be able to. I ran this size for a year, and only had to adjust the front inner fender line forward.

Hey Guys, not sure if this is the right spot for this but I'm having some fitment issues on my lift/tires. I knew there'd probably be some rubbing but didn't expect it to be this bad. I limped in to work from the tire shop this morning but I'm rubbing so bad the truck is barely driveable.

I'm getting rubbing on the front plastic which I expected to have to push forward. But I'm also getting bad rubbing on the back side of the tire on the mud flap. Is it normal to remove them? If I remove them and it still rubs what are people doing?

I'm surprised the rubbing is this bad, I didn't go huge or anything... 285/75 r 16 with a 3" (I think actual was more like 2.5") OME suspension lift.

I'm not 100% sure, but it may be too much tire for your lift. In looking at the '4th gen suspension options faq' thread, it seems that 285/70R17 would just barely fit with a 3" lift.

You're going to need to do some trimming. Also, have you already replaced your front upper control arm?

285/70/17 is pretty much the same diameter as 286/75/16. Just the rim diameter is different.

You won't have any rubbing in the rear when you remove the rear mudflap.

What off set are your wheels ?
I know they come in 0, -10, and -12
If it's a negative offset, that can definitely be why it's rubbing so bad.

This happens to most of us! A good alignment will take care of about 75% of your rubbing. You'll need to get 3+ degrees of castor so if you're running the stock UCAs it might be a stretch to get there, but definitely worth trying. After that you'll still need to do some light trimming... say goodbye to your mudflaps and maybe some plastic behind them. On the front side the tires, you'll need to move the fender liners forward by popping new holes for the fasteners about 1-2" away from the original holes and trim the corners of your bumper off. It's all very easy to do. Just take your time and it won't even be noticeable. I used painter's tape so that I could draw a very visible line and slowly cut through the plastic bumper with a sharp utility knife. If you end up with any rough spots, you can use a fine-grain sandpaper to "buff" the edges smooth. Good luck! And yes, mine was barely drivable at first, too!

They're the -10... I wanted them pushed out a bit from stock. I took off the mudflaps last night and that helped but I'm still rubbing for sure on the front. I know I need to push the fender liners forward... random question how are people mostly doing this? I was thinking maybe unbolt and add some kind of washer/spacer between the fender liner and the wheel well / body. Or are people just cutting it?

If I still rub after this will my only option be to add a 1" body lift?

I can also make you a .5" spacer to fix this if you still have issues. Let me know.
