Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Having just done a 3 inch icon lift, Im asking myself the diff drop question. Both the cv boots are torn and I have OEM kits ready to be installed. But still wondering if I should purchase a toytec diff drop kit.
My thinking is the reason for a lift is to get better approach/departure angles offroading. 2-2.5" front and rear accomplishes that. If you install the diff drop you'll have to drop the front skid plate 1" also and that kind of defeats the purpose of the lift.

My 2007 is apx 2-2.25" above stock with OEM UCA's and the CV's are nearly flat, no diff drop.

My 2008 is apx 2.75" above stock with SPC UCA's and the CV boot fins touch a little bit, moreso than the 2007, the angle doesn't look too bad to my untrained eye, no diff drop.

When I'm done tinkering with the '07 I think I'll drop the '08 front down to 2.5". More than 2.5" seems to me I'm getting diminishing returns - CV angles are getting bad and I'm not getting much better approach angle.

I'm happy I installed the SPC UCA's, the '07 at 2.5" over stock with OEM UCA's the alignment was barely in specs but felt floaty.

What setup do you have on your rigs? I'm looking for a 2-2.5 but there aren't a ton of options out there, seems like most are 3/2. I've been considering the 5100/wheelers T1/12 set up and hoping I can keep oem UCA's and avoid the diff drop...

Almost any adjustable coilover (fox, king, icon, toytec) can give you 1-3 inches of lift.

You won't need a diff drop either. I have 3+ inches of front and never run a diff drop. It's fine.

Basically, you have to install something, see how it works, then change it. I think about 75% of people have done that method. :) :sobbing:

I have Toytec Boss front and rear on both, Boss kit is Eibach shocks/coils in front but they're threaded, Eibach shocks with their own name on them are like 5100's they have grooves and a snap ring. Boss is Eibach rear shocks matched to 2" Toytec lift coils with a bumpstop extender.

I've never had 5100's, from what I've read if you go with 5100's in the rear with lift coils make sure you get extended length 5100's to match the extra height.

It's a pain trying to sort the options/prices/bang for the buck/longevity/rebuildable. I went with the Boss kit for the price point and adjustable without disassembling the coils.

My setups are different also because I put Firestone airbags in the rear and remove the rear swaybar. I let the airbags control the sway and I get a lot more droop from the rear suspension with the OEM swaybar removed. About three more inches. So install extended rear brakelines if you remove the rear swaybar.

I'm probably overextending the rear shocks, we'll see how they hold up.

3" Lift on 33s

Finally got some new things...

3" ReadyLift

33" Nitto Terra Grapplers G2

Rigid Industries 30" Radiance White Back-Light lightbar

Aftermarket trailer hitch

Pretty happy with the results, would love some suggestions on what I should do next! :)

Looks good! I think you mean OEM (factory) springs. If you had OME on top of 2.5" billies, you would be really high up.

Nice stance

How's the clearance between your jba UCA's and the tire?? Looks great!

I finally got mine done! Toytec 3" lift. Front bilsteins set to .85, front toytec coils, rear toytec springs, Cooper discoverer STT pro 285/70/17
ZrxFiXZ.jpg

How do you like the Cooper STT Pro's? About to replace my 4-year old Duratracs, same size as yours & REALLY digging the STT Pro's! Like the DT's but don't need them for as much snow as I thought I would've, living in the valley & only up to the Tahoe mountain snow on occasion. Heard the STT Pros are pretty good in many snow conditions as well, but I'm sure far better in most others.

Finally got my lift and tires situated and, while I love the look, I'm getting a pretty significant pull to the right that I never had. Anybody encountered this? had them aligned and rotated....???
