My thinking is the reason for a lift is to get better approach/departure angles offroading. 2-2.5" front and rear accomplishes that. If you install the diff drop you'll have to drop the front skid plate 1" also and that kind of defeats the purpose of the lift.Having just done a 3 inch icon lift, Im asking myself the diff drop question. Both the cv boots are torn and I have OEM kits ready to be installed. But still wondering if I should purchase a toytec diff drop kit.
My 2007 is apx 2-2.25" above stock with OEM UCA's and the CV's are nearly flat, no diff drop.
My 2008 is apx 2.75" above stock with SPC UCA's and the CV boot fins touch a little bit, moreso than the 2007, the angle doesn't look too bad to my untrained eye, no diff drop.
When I'm done tinkering with the '07 I think I'll drop the '08 front down to 2.5". More than 2.5" seems to me I'm getting diminishing returns - CV angles are getting bad and I'm not getting much better approach angle.
I'm happy I installed the SPC UCA's, the '07 at 2.5" over stock with OEM UCA's the alignment was barely in specs but felt floaty.
