Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I did

Does anybody have any pictures of this setup? I went through many pages but couldnt seem to find this exact setup.

matched with 5100s. 255/75/17s and 5th gen wheels ie: less offset.. Best advice i can give you is if you go the OME route pair their coils with their struts/shocks so that the damping is better paired and the ride is alot better. Also chances are youll need UCAs if you go that route..i did.

Finally got my 5100s and FJ springs installed this weekend. Went with the 1.75" setting + 1" Cornfed rear spacer. I was hoping this would net a <1" rake, but the front didn't lift as much as expected. I am weighing my options and hoping for a little advice on what I think are my best options:

  1. Adjust the 5100s up to 2.5": pros: no parts required, cons: requires dis-assembling the strut - I have no tools to do so, so would require finding a shop to do the work and a fair amount of $$$ to have it done
  2. Have been looking into top spacers to get ~1" in the front with minimal hassle. Something like in the link below. pros: cheap, may not have to dis-assemble the strut? cons: worse for ride?
  3. Get over it and enjoy the lift as-is... maybe the rear settles??

Top spacer: [SR] 1" Front Leveling Spacer Lift Kit 03-09 Toyota 4Runner & Tacoma 4WD & 2WD | eBay

With these options mind, a couple questions. Adding a small top spacer like this, would the existing bolts be long enough to bolt right on, or would I still need to dis-assemble the struts in order to swap in longer bolts? Any other pros and cons to consider? Any other ideas on how to do this simply?

Bonus points if anyone in the bay area has the equipment and wants to help...!

Running 255/80r17 Cooper ST Maxx tires with Old Man Emu 884/Toytec Superflex standard rear springs and sport shocks all around. Suspension still has enough lift even with full skids and sliders, 50 pounds on the roof, and a full size matching spare. Smooth enough for daily driving and enough stiffness for loaded down expeditions in the mountains and desert without the rear end sagging.

Also running LR UCAs to get everything aligned properly. Much better handling after getting caster back compared to the stock UCAs

Dissasemble struts the no spring compressor method and move to 2.5. Easy peasy.

I would just leave it, it looks good to me. As soon as you put a load in the back it will eliminate most if not all of that rake.

Level vs Full Spacer Lift for Wheel and Tire Size

Okay, I have done A LOT of reading, asking etc. and still want to post a question to everyone. I have a 2009 Limited Sport 4Runner (Stock) I am going to put the newer matt black TRD 17" wheels with Terra Grappler G2 265/70/17.

Question: Should I do a ToyTec 2" front only coil spring spacer lift OR the Daystar 2.5 front/ 1.5 rear spacer lift.

I have been told the polyurethane lifts wear out rather quickly due to the material. Also, I want to make sure my CV joints are not going to get smoked by angle due to lift. I have the XREAS so for now it is spacers.

I do go off roading, especially when I hunt and would like to do some overland driving. The rig has 184K on it. Sooooo looking for some advice.

Appreciate all the help and advice in advance!

I've been reading all these suspension and lift threads for a couple months now and I think I'm finally ready to put all the pieces together. Just wanted to run it by everyone here to make sure this will work without issue and ride well. I have a 2007 Limited 4WD V6

Bilstein 5100 struts and shocks on all four corners (set at 1.75")
Moog FJ front coils
T12 rear coils

I want to avoid purchasing UCA's and all that stuff and am looking for about a 2-2.5" lift. It doesn't need to be perfectly level and even some rake will be fine with me. I'm looking to do this economically but also the right way the first time. I'm open to suggestions if there is a better way. Note: i've already purchased the Bilsteins so they will be a part of the install.

I'm tempted to go with Moog FJ rear coils but I can't afford to take the chance that they won't fit once I'm mid install. Would the above combination work? Thanks!

Just to clarify, I meant only the front struts at a height of 1.75" I realize the rear shocks aren't adjustable.

Just buy the T1 front springs and set the 5100s at 0. It will ride better than preloading the moog springs at 1.75.

I spent 900 all in with the front assembled. If not your looking at like 750 shipped for that set up.

Finely lifted my 07 limited V8 4runner with 40k miles today. Bilstein coilover lift with 285 nitto ridge grapplers on 285/70r17. Wheels are 17 inch 5th gen trail/FJ wheels that were powder coated. Very little rubbing with these wheels and we only had to move the front fender lineres and remove front flaps. Now there's no rubbing at all. The tires drive amazing and are super quiet but still look really aggressive. The pictures don't do it justice how good it looks in person now. I have a little front rake so may do some adjustments once everything settles.

Thank you. By chance do you have a picture of the setup you proposed?

I've had my toytec ultimate lift for some time now but finally got new wheels. Put on pro comp 7089s with kumho at51s 275/65/18. A little rubbing up front on full turn but just need to move the fender linings forward. The - 6mm offset gives it a nice aggressive stance without looking over the top for a daily driver.

2006 limited. 3" toytec ultimate. 275/65/18 kumho At51s on pro comp 7089 w/ - 6mm offset.

Rough Country 6"

I bit the bullet and ordered the RC 6" lift for the FJ, some Dirt King boxed UCAs, and some NFAB nerf bars. Some background...the before shot is with 5100s at 2.5, FJ springs, and a rear daystar 1.5" spacer for an extra 3" and it's sitting on the same 285/70/17 BFG KO2s and MB Wheels.

Post 6" kit install, I had to bring the front 5100's down to the second to lowest setting (.85?) to get the CV and steering angles even close to ok. It's 4WD and I intended to keep using it, so that's an important part of my changing the settings on the 5100s.

I also had to remove the rear daystar spacers as they would no longer fit around or seat the new RC springs that came with the kit. It's got a bit of a bro lift currently, though I think the front will settle because the 5100s and FJ coils that are there are older than this new kit. At any rate, I'll have to find a spacer kit for the rear that will fit if the bro lift doesn't settle to my liking.

Alright, so the first shot is before....the other 3 are after.....enjoy!

New To Me

I should name this truck "New To Me" because that's where all the parts came from. I got a set of Tacoma TRD "new take off" parts and that's the shocks and front springs. Thanks to a wheeling buddy I got some 3rd hand FJ springs and added the Firestone airbags in the rear to balance the ride when loaded or pulling my trailer. Lastly....some SR5 Snowflake wheels from the local dealership (for just a little more than the normal price of 1 wheel) and a set of 5 255/75R17 from a new Jeep. Not bad.....for under $1K I got a little lift, new wheels and tires all around. No fender liner moving or bumper trimming yet but I'm sure it's needed.
