Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I ended up doing the Bilstein 5100s with OME 884s up front and toytech SuperFlex 2.0’s in the back. I think it looks great but I hadn’t accounted for the fact that the stock suspension already had 140k miles on it and it was sagging a bit. The end result was an lift of 3.75” in the front and 3.25” in the back.

I did it with a mechanic buddy of mine and it took a little over 2 hours because of rusted/difficult bolts but that was offset by the fact that I bought a new strut mount before-hand and compressed and assembled the strut the night before. We also didn't loosen the control arms at the cams and just pried the LCA down (definitely a two-man job but saved some time).

Currently wearing down the tread on a set of 265/70/16 Hankook Dynastar ATMs. Looking at BFG AT KO2s at 275/70/16. I would like to go up to the 75/16 but want to stick with a D load tire or lower and it can't rub cause it is my wife's DD.

The 4Runner is my wife’s DD and really didn’t want it too stiff which is why we did the Superflex springs in the back. We both love the new ride! Nose drive and body lean decreased and the ride is actually smoother on paved roads and forrest roads. Off road (light trails) I don’t notice a big difference in the ride but the clearance is SOOO much better.

The lean: This 3.75/3.25 lift is measured on the passenger side- driver side was exactly 0.5” lower in front and in back. It was dead level before he lift. It leans enough that I can notice but only when I am looking for it. I like not having one spring preloaded more that the other one but honestly I highly doubt it makes a difference.

Final numbers no change d/t sagging at 60 days out:

Updating this thread since I have put different wheels and tires.

295/70/17 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro with steel wheels. I think they are Cragar Soft 8's. I have Toytec 2.0HD rear coils and Toytec/Eibach 2.5" front coils with Bilstein 5100s and SPC UCA's.

The Cragar wheels are lug centric, any balance issues? This is the wheel that I am thinking about but dont want any shaking while driving.

They were balanced by the previous owner who had them on an FJ, however I have not experienced any shaking. I have not gone up to 55mph with these so far no shaking. :)

Did you ever get a response on this? I'm also curious as to what tire size these are. I'm assuming they're stock size, but this is the look I'm going for as well.

2006 Sport Edition

Hey y'all! I'm new to the forum, so if i'm doing this wrong, please don't flame me. This is my 2006 Sport Edition with 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road shocks and struts. They are Bilstein 4600s. I also have take-offs from a 2016 Trail Edition 4Runner with the stock 5th gen 265/70 bridgestones. I still have the stock 2006 rear coils, but they have a 1.5" daystar spacer on them. The one thing I look forward to changing about this all is getting some more aggressive tires. The bridgestones are great on road, but lack off-road. Glad to be here!

Attempted to search here but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. It's time for some new tires and I'm not sure what my options are. It's 100% stock with the factory 18" 6-spoke wheels. Am I able to throw a decent set of tires like K02 or something similar without going nuts on things yet? What size am I able to go with without a lift?

Thanks!

Depends on whether you're willing to cut and trim or not. The safe bet would be to get a more aggressive tire in the OEM size. You might be able to go up a size or two, but every tire design fits a bit different.

That would be a first for me. I had hoped the suspension could be done before needing tires but it hasn't worked out that way. Maybe I will take your recommendation and attempt to step it up a size or 2 from stock and call it a day. Thanks!

Welcome, Truck looks nice, get some nice a/t tires and it'll look even better. Love that color.

Anyone have pics of OME 886/895 setup on their 4runner? I've tried searching around google for some images, but I keep coming across 884s or 885s in the front and Superflexes, 894/895/896 in the rear.

I’m ore here too and have a similar suspension to John above.

My runner is only 2wd so I’m not going to do much else to it.

2006 SR5 2wd with 2018 Tacoma TRD off-road front suspension (strut/spring assemblies).

I left the rear alone for now. I want to probably lift it 3/4” sometime.

Tires are a Nitto Terra Grapplers G2. 265/70/17

I just installed OME 886 with 895E rear springs. Bilstein 5100 all around.

No ARB bumper/winch and regular all season tires.

I'll post alignment numbers later but so far I like the ride. More planted and no more diving when braking. Hope to see the suspension settle down a bit as I put some more miles on it.

Thanks for the pics! That setup looks really good. Hopefully my 895's will make the rear sit a bit taller than yours.

Is yours the V8? I'm thinking it's a v6, but want to double check.

Are you on stock UCA's as well?

Yeah mine is the V6 in stock UCAs. Firestone could only get me to .5 caster but so far the ride the good enough for me. Are you thinking about getting aftermarket UCAs?

265/60/18 BFG K02's on stock suspension. Dirty and 220K on the clock-

As expected, they look a bit small and could use some spacing, but overall I am very happy with the tire feel/sound/look. :thumb:

To me even 2.7* was not enough.
Side wind and any ruts in the road I felt like I was all ways steering to correct, like you could never relax.
Long drives on the hwy were tense.

To me over 4* was WAY better.
Its not pulling into every little rut in the road now and your not on edge steering constantly.

Good to know.

Yea, I'm currently on stock UCA, but I definitely want to make the jump to aftermarket UCA. Currently on the fence between the SPC and JBA's. I believe I'm currently at 0~1 degree of caster, and it's just tiring to drive, constantly trying to correct for any little indifferences of an uneven road/side wind/etc...
