Honestly, this forum could use a better layout.

But I'm not sure how that affects someone doing a search... on google. Not being rude, just trying to make a point.

I'm sure the originators of this forum never thought it would be the biggest T4R forum on the planet (at least I think it is... I didn't search so I'm not really sure). I do agree the layout isn't the best if someone is using the forum to search... or if they are digging though threads.... google is highly recommended in that department for that exact reason.

Yeah, true. i'm not gonna argue with you there. i think every car/truck forum has a problem with people not doing enough research, but we could reduce that a little bit with a better layout (i think).

I think the "Search engine" on here kind of sucks! Type in a search and you get back results that have absolutely nothing to do with what you just searched for.
definitely not as good as using "Google"

That being said, forums are based off traffic of views and post. The site makes money from advertisements!

There's a reason why people come here rather than TTORA, or Pirates.

Fact is that many of the guys and gals that buy 4runner are a large part of the instant gratitude generation! (average Joe's) Not hardcore car guys!

So to search and read through countless post just to find a simple answer? May not be the first option for a lot of NEWB's.

But if those post bother some of you? Then I would just suggest skipping them and reading only the ones you find interesting.

But I do agree that I wish the title of the thread would be better so I can decide if I want to even look at the thread.

It's almost like the refugee's that come here and try to bring their way of life and change it to how they think America should be. If you like TTORA and Pirates? Then that's where you should go.
If the Muslim way of life is what you prefer then by all means go for it!

I know I'll probably catch a lot of flack for this post. :brick:
But I really don't give a Flack!:bounce:

Safety pins and teddy bears are be handed out as you leave! Feel free to take as many as you like!

Have a great day! Relax! Life is way too short to be upset all the time!

Tough one. How and who makes that call. I think 1engineer has a good point. Just my thoughts ban me from it if you want. Find it funny how some threads have been moved or unacceptable for lack of 5th gen content but others haven't. Example (not picking on anyone) "Input on Navada/Utah trip" by Okki. Irrelevant to 5th gen other than drives a 5th Gen. But I think that's ok because I drive one to and I would do the same. But not a whole lot diffrent then asking someone what color looks best on my 5th gen. I'm just saying.
While we're off subject if I were to make a comment on the search function/forum layout. Think it works great other then needs to be A 5th gen/ 5.5th gen. Or early/late Gen diffrence. I have a early/2013 so when you search so much of the time you get stuff related to 2014 on. (I know more of them). Some things that's ok all the same. But for example bumpers, wheels, tires cosmetic stuff it makes a difference. I've been searching with 2013 in search but that limits and doesn't help much. So go to older threads or look through lots and lots of 2014 on stuff and might find some ealier stuff. Which that's what have been doing. I have never started a thread as never have needed to because there is so much information on this forum. Wich shows how awesome it really is. Thank you all. :cheers:Sorry for long post boring lunch.

Easy answer: I don't read every thread or every post. There's simply no way, so I log on, glance at the threads and move/close/merge the ones I have time to do. Also, older threads that have lasted the test of time I usually just let them stay.

thats cause you arent using it properly... it works great

Eh? Could be?? Maybe I need to use the new math, or my Ebonic's dictionary??

But for me I always use Google and it brings me to the correct thread on here.
If I use the search on here? It's a "hit or miss" sort of thing.
Maybe because people aren't using the proper titles on their threads???

But my experience is that "Google" seems to be more intuitive with it's search engine.

The ironic thing is that it still brings me back to this Forum. So I know the information is here.
But I personally don't find the search engine here to be of much use. (That might just be my experience)

I disagree with this in it's entirely.

There is an underlying tone of aggression and discontent with these types on statements on open forums. There is already a subset of members on the this forum that are agressive and belittle others who they feel have asked 'dumb' or redundant questions. Statements like these only encourage rude behavior by some.

We are here to discuss topics, questions and concerns about a common interest. In this case the interest is a car.

Let's keep the conversation civil and respectful to every. If you don't agree with a post or comment disagree without being disrespectful. Point others to resources without lowering yourself to name calling.

Quite honestly I'm baffled by this, I can't tell you how many times our moderator has said something similar to keeping it about the truck or all the times I've seen him call out people for making things personal. When he became moderator he cleaned things up tremendously and is better than most would be about walking the line of letting people speak freely and moderating that speech.

LOL! Yeah I actually deleted from my profile after I saw how big it was. But it still shows up when I post????

edit
There you go! Finally after 3 tries the signature is erased!
I was just about the start a "How do you remove your Sig. Thread!" LOL!!!!

I agree with mod/OP. However, there is difficulty toggling between google and the Tapatalk app, if one wants to post in an older thread discovered through google rather than start a new thread in the app to discuss a topic previously discussed in early threads. There should also be a lexicon stickied for this forum. For the life of me I don't know what "becky" means.

I just want to say if I wasn't at work right now dealing with all these idiots that think it's going to snow I would be posting lots of witty shit in this thread- especially inappropriate stuff about Titanpat. Fn loser.

That's all.

Carry on.

I knew nothing about my 4runner when I got it. I spent countless hours searching the forums for answers on my own and had no problems doing so using the search feature. I've had my car since October and I've been on the forums for 4 months. All of the mods on my car, I've done myself. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything but rather give credit to those who have shared their knowledge on the forums. And being a newer member on the forums, I agree that it is frustrating seeing people ask redundant questions especially when they can find the answers with a simple search as others stated.

I found I'm just too lazy to contribute anything witty, so I pressed "like" about 50 times as my contribution. Now I will just start a new thread...Is there anything on All terrain tires with size fitment and rubbing yet? And yes I already searched "tires on cars" and nothing came up.
