Thanks guys! :hatsoff: Ya it's growing on me I guess. I didn't install the top mounts yet and without them it shakes/vibrates a little bit. I have a Grillcraft grill to install so if it stays I'll have to cut holes in it, something I don't want to do. We'll see :shrug:

NICE! Exactly what I want to do!!! Excited to see it actually looks like what I had hoped for! Can you get a close up of where you cut off the bars? EDIT: NEVERMIND...just realized I saw that pic the other day...

I kinda rushed this, jca was pressuring me ...Thats my excuse anyways :lmao: I can clearly see where I removed the bars I should have used some body filler on where I ground off the welds and then sanded the area smooth then primed and painted. Take your time and I'm sure you can make it look great!

I found a welder, in of all places, the Bronx that actually knows what he is doing. He said he can do it for me. My brother-in-law used him before, a couple of times, for some custom things, and was pretty happy with the outcome and the price. I would love to do this myself to save some coin, but I do not have the space nor the tools for this. I might leave an inch or two on the headlight bars and have the welder weld on the vertical piece to connect the top and bottom.

Interesting idea on reusing the ends of the guards. I didn't notice whether or not they stayed the same width apart for their entire length, I'll have a look at them tomorrow.

So I went ahead with the Grillcraft install today and also the upper braces for the bar. As I noted above I really didn't want to cut holes in the new grill but also didn't want the bar to vibrate loose so the holes in the grill won out.

Cutting the holes was really very simple, a pair of diagonal cutters and a couple clips and done. Just be sure you're cutting in the right spot or it'll cost ya:boink:

As I said in another thread I have the old style TOYOTA grill emblem just not sure I want it on there yet.

I apologize for bringing back an old thread but I am a newbie to the site and recently replaced my 2007 SR5 with a 2012 TE. I want to get a grill guard for the new one but am concerned about the contact mentioned with the front of the vehicle. Has anyone found a grille guard that fits the 2012 trail editions without any major fit issues?

The main reason I would need this is to protect the front of my 4runner from the front tie downs for the kayaks I often carry on top.
