Thank you. I appreciate the info. I'm at 115000 so I thought my ball joints were bad though I don't see any movement when I move it. I have not replaced my front bearings or shocks since it was new so maybe those are on it's way out at some point. I plan on keeping my rig for a long time since I hate monthly payments.

The old ball joints weren't bad, and I'm at 145k now. There is still a slight clunk from the front end I can't identify, but at least now I know I won't lose a wheel on the highway. I did this more as preventative, knowing this is one of the very few weak points on the vehicle, and I plan on keeping it a long time.

I will add to anyone considering the crank out press that the pieces you get in the kit do not work on our LCAs, well they do but not a good fit... ScottM making that custom sleeve makes the entire process work. There just isnt much meat on that area of the LCA, the cups in the kit are either too small for the ball joint or too big for the LCA...

Thats some good work on the lower ball joints. Its not easy trying to remove it without taking the lca's off, even harder centering it for the install. You clocked the grease nipple right. I didnt think of it during the install & mine is pointing straight at the cv.

I gotta tackle this soon too as my upper and lower boots are torn and tie rod ends too...lol since the author had to custom some parts. I'm not sure i can tackle this with simple tools.

Probably a three-banana job, based on having to make my own adapters for the press, to make this work.

I rented this ball-joint press and adapters from Autozone, 27023, 27163, 27165. Knee-pads, unless you have a lift or thick carpet in your garage, these are a must. I never used the pickle fork.

Any updates on the moogs? Holding up ok? Read good and bad about them. Thanks. imp:

Thanks for bumping this. I just bought a pair about 3 hours ago. Now they will sit in my glove box until I get back home, or if mine break on the road and I manage to find some angle iron to make a press with.

Interesting stuff, didn't know ball joints could be replaced except with the entire arm...at least that's what Toyota told me. I think I'll be going with moog just as you have. Thanks for the great info!

Any thoughts on this video? My impression after watching is OEM is the way to go with ball joints (and many other things).
