Most Miles on 1 Tank of gas?

record high for one tank: 315 (going to tahoe and back)
record low for one tank: 175 (city driving with 4 peeps in the car)
average mileage with stock tires: 14-16 city, 22-24 highway
average mileage with 265's: 12-14 city, 17-20 highway
those 225's are starting to look a whole lot better.

Not to hijack this thread but...
I've noticed that tire pressure makes a big difference on my '03Sport.
I was running around 30-32psi and was getting about 18.7 - 19.2MPG's.....
Now, I've increased all tires to 36psi and get about 21.5 - 22.5MPG.
Not bad....check your tires frequently...especially during the summer and before roadtrips.

My light just came on Solid (no more flickering like it does when its close to E) and I'm at 311 Miles, I'm going to wait untill night to fill up so I'll post the MPG then..
I don't understand why some of you get so low gas milage..I drive 90% City/10% Highway, have the 265/70/16 tires..Use A/C 25% of the time, (and this particular tank i've driven aggressivly [Flooring it sometimes]) and I get TONS better MPG than some of you..
I also use Mobil 1 Syntetic Oil for SUV's and a Genuine Toyota Oil Filter (the Synthetic brought my MPG up a bit)
Tire pressure is at or near 32PSI
Donno what I'm doing but it seems like my MPG are a lot better than some of yours..
/edit Filled up and put 17.234 Gallons in travelling a total of 312.9 Miles which gave me a 18.156 MPG. I still dont see that as bad considering i started using my A/C and Drove aggressively for the first time.

I'm approaching 3k miles on my 06 Limited V8 4WD, and I've recorded every gas purchase since I took delivery.
The lowest mileage on a tankful was 14.5 mpg, when I drove mostly city traffic, some off-road, and some pulling a utility trailer with a lawn tractor.
The highest mileage thus far for a tankful has been 20.0 mpg, which was primarily interstate driving using cruise control and staying around 70mph.
For the entire life of the vehicle, my average mileage is now 17.2 mpg. I haven't pampered the truck, but I don't have to be first off the line when the light turns green either. I've been using various brands of 87 octane, and just one tankful of 93 octane (and I saw no difference in mileage or performance.)

Hey everyone. Here's my 1st post; I was reading this thread and it sounded pretty interesting...
Something is definitely wrong. my half way point has been at 150 miles since I bought the truck 8 months ago. I have the 3RZ 4cylinder, so I average between 21-22 mpg. City/Highway driving doesn't seem to change that figure either way too much. What do some other 4cyl engines get?

yea, it's not terrible... I just got the runner so i'm thinking about synthetic oil at the next oil change and a new filter along with possibly a new air filter (which i'm still not to sure about). The vehicle is toyota certified used so my question to you is should I take it in now to get the sending unit etc. checked out or just not worry about it?

I read all 12 pages of this thread and a lot of it hit a chord with me. I just bought my Dad's 2000 4Runner and I have noticed some issues with the gas meter and my miles per tank. Right after I fill up the needle drops to 3/4 full after about only 40 miles. I tend to get about 250 miles out of the tank before the light comes on. When I fill up I can usually only fit in about 15 gallons before the pump shuts off. So my mpg is about what I would expect (16-17) but the gas gauge seems to be screwy. Someone mentioned a TSR about the fual gauge being off, is this something I can get fixed free of charge (ha!).
On a side note, will getting a trueflow filter and replacing the intake tube help get better mpg?
