Looks like your in OH where the temps are low. Do you do alot of short trips? If so this will hill your MPG. In winter time this does not help either as it takes longer for the vehicle to warm up after each start. Even if the vehicle sits for one hour after just using it the engine cools down considerably in close to 0 degree temps.

4runner is not a fuel efficient vehicle by any means. If 2 mpg concerns you than I'm afraid you might of bought the wrong vehicle.

I read these posts with amusement, too many variables to compare depending on the fuel type ,ambient temps , terrain and so on everybody will achieve different numbers.

My Trail is bone stock, since new averaged 15.1 mpg and gone as low as 13 in the city. Taken off road it has dropped to 9 mpg.

No clue how you guys drive to see 17-19 mpg.

I have averaged 16.8 since last August but I average 17-18 in the "summer gas" months on my day-to-day suburban/light city driving. I don't drive under the speed limit and usually accelerate at 2000-2500 rpm which is plenty unless you are racing. Put it this way: not a lot of people pass me. The terrain here is not flat and slightly hilly depending on which routes you take. My highway mileage rarely improves beyond 18mpg at 75mph but I have hit 20 on my flat drive down I95 last summer and the occasional highway trip around here but again, rarely above 18mpg due to wind and hills on the highway.

I ended up getting 17.5 on a 7.5 hr trip cruising at about 75. The weather was good but I had a ski rack on top messing up the aerodynamics. Not bad, not good either.

I still think I'm getting about 2 lower than I should. My driving habits did not change from my 2006 4R which I averaged about 19 blended.

So far since August when I purchased my trail, my mpg has been as good as 21.5 to 15.5. My driving is pretty much 60/40 city/highway. I have noticed that while I'm in Phoenix, my girl is running a lot peppier and getting better mileage ad compared to when I am in Denver. I know it's an altitude thing. But just wanted to add some other feedback. This is running at 91 fuel, currently at 13,230 miles

AZ Fuel- I haven't seen my display show higher than 15 something since my lift and armor until driving East from Flag to Albuquerque and had 17 something. I know the display isn't accurate but i still liked seeing it. I was running 91 out in Arizona.

During thanksgiving, i hit 20 mpg from flag to abq. [MENTION=2318]AZRunner[/MENTION], I know you have a little more armor and larger tires then I, but 17 is awesome for that stretch! I am going that way again today, so i will see what i get this time around.
