Multiple phones paired with Bluetooth

I've paired two iphones - mine and my wife's - to my *Non-Nav* audio system.

Will it not pair to whichever of the two phones is present without selecting the correct phone from the Phone List? It seems if the current phone is not the previously paired phone the current phone has to be paired manually. Maybe I should just not let my wife drive the 4Runner.

Since I cannot transfer Contacts (iphone 3GS) is there any way to manually enter Contact Names alphanumerically? Entering Names by voice results in too many names that are "too similar" according the the robotic nannie.

And... if I coerce a non-iPhone friend to use their phone to upload Contacts, can the Contacts be selectively loaded? I wouldn't want the friend to have to delete his Contacts to upload mine.

Thanks for any help.

This is based on how my Nav works, but it looks for the last phone connected and only accepts the contacts associated with that particular phone. When my wife connects her phone, it only shows her numbers. Once again, this is for the Nav, but your owners manual should confirm that your Non-Nav unit functions similarly.

You can have multiple phones paired, but you need to "select audio player" or whatever each time you want to change phones.

It's not the best system in the world.

To change phones:
Press the off hook button. Say "setup". Say "phone setup". Say "select phone". Say the phone that you want to use. Say " confirm".

I have 6 quick numbers stored in the head unit on my SR5, but when I'm using a number not on the head unit, I just use the iphone's voice command feature. Activate this by holding the home button for approximately 3 seconds. Then say "dial John Doe". Works way better than programming alll those names in.

Thanks for the responses.

The idea of using the iPhone's own voice activation feature is a good one I hadn't thought of. I've never used it beyond a brief trial or two but it could be very handy in the truck.
