Thanks Irishmjm, I look forward to the results. As far as Mod's, since you do not want lift the vehicle, you have eliminated about 1/2 of the threads in this forum,lol, but you got a lot of reading to do my friend. I would start with this thread, found towards the top of the 5th Gen board;

This will take you about 6 hours or so to go through it. Lot's a great ideas from some VERY talented folks. You will enjoy the possibilities......

As to tires, do a search, top right hand corner of the main page, just start with "5th Gen Tires" or the like and again, many, many threads will appear.
Some say a regular Google search is better, starting withe 5th Gen 4runner xxxx. Either way, you are going to want to tivo you favorite TV shows for the next few weeks....

Thanks Jtraskell....6 hours huh???? Ive been combing through it for a couple hours already... thats a great link and i will definitely spend quite a bit of time going through them. For the last few weeks ive been reading up on the rear camera mod... antmans thread is awesome...thats the first thing id love to do, although im very mechanical and certainly know my way around a vehicle, wiring is not my thing at all. I've either gotta grow some serious confidence or find someone in the Buffalo area to help me out. Once again thank you, i really appreciate your help and advice

I am. The official press release stated that the SR5 grade model would be receiving the switch and ipod location change. No where in it did it say the TE was changing. I along with probably most everyone else assumed that the TE would be affected by that too...it obviously wasn't though. I guess you never know what an auto manufacturer is thinking but in sticking with Toyota tradition it is highly unlikely that they would make a mid year change especially considering next years models will probably see the mid gen changes/facelift

So you are willing to bet that for the 13' model year there will be no USB in the middle and no switch for the 4WD system? Not trying to be an :moon: here but Toyota did release a statement with the changes. They did not list each model specifically but I would be shocked if those changes did not carry over to all of them. I know back in the day the Pathfinder did the 1/2 model year additions.

I bought 2 days ago a 2013 SR5, and it does have a switch for the 4x4 instead of the lever, and the USB + aux connection in the lower middle section of the dash. I like it very much, I find the location of all outlets and inputs to be very convenient. Also with the new entune, there's no need for an ipod, since it plays the music that I have stored in my android cell phone wirelessly through the bluetooth, very convenient if you ask me. It also loads all of your contacts information into the the entune, so it is super convenient for making phone calls while driving. There's really very little to envy in comparison with any other high dollar SUV as far as features go. The only thing I've noticed is that the MPG has been around 15 mpg according to the on screen computer for the two days that I've been driving.

Grey 2013 TE

Just want to put my two cents in. Picked up my new 2013 TE a couple days ago, it still has the lever but the USB plug is definitly in the center stack.

Congrats on the new ride! When I was looking to get my TE, I too was very anxious about whether or not the shift level would still be there. The dealer initiated a search for a '13, but I said I would not buy it if it did not have a lever (I already had a '10 SR5, so moving up to a TE was really just frosting on the cake). Anyway, I ended up getting a '12, which of course had the lever for 4WD.

Anyway, enjoy your new ride, and good luck waiting for Saturday...I had the same thing happen when I ordered a new pickup truck. It came in late on the day before Thanksgiving, when I was out of town. I had to wait until Monday to get it! I must have gone to the dealer 3 or 4 times to look at it!
