I just installed a fog light stalk from a 01 Limited T4R. I didn't know that I could just take the clam shell off by turning the steering wheel and unbolting the 2 screws. I took the steering wheel completely off the 1st time I did the install. Now I have the Lexus stalk for sale.
The difference between the 2 are just the AUTO on the stalk.

So the later model switch works in the earlier runner. For 2000 the switch has stuff built in that makes the headlights turn off when the door opens after the key is off. Did you get that feature with the switch install?

I have no idea! Will look into it. Didn't know that was a feature. Do you have the FSM?

Yes I got a copy from here on the board. When I went looking at part numbers and such I found the 99 and earlier part number was common across quite a few platforms. The 2000-2002 switch was only Runners and the 98 Supra. The difference being the built in relay that powers the lights down on door opening. I already had found a used Lexus/Camry switch like you had but didn't want to cause any problems or lose the door open lights off feature. For curiosity sake it would be interesting to know what happens when the earlier switch is used in a later Runner as well. It could be useful info for other owners looking to get a factory type fog light switch. I am way to chicken to try it out myself. Crispy wiring is way down on list of things to have happen to my newest 3rd gen LOL. I'm too lazy to trace it all out on a schematic too. It was just easier to pay a hundred bucks for the new switch.

I just looked into the FSM and the wiring is different in my 98 compared to the 01 combination switch (c13). It doesn't have that relay for the LIGHTS OFF FEATURE. I also just came from outside and trying it on my truck. It's doesn't work. Usually I would get the complete wiring harness from a donor truck to upgrade things that the older trucks don't, but I really don't feel like opening a can of worms. Would be Nice to have! Maybe when I'm done tinkering around and get bored, I'll do that upgrade.
There's also a factory garage door opener that comes on the drivers visor. Also factory heated seats. I lucked out on my drivers side that I found at my local junkyard. Just looking for a passenger side now. It's Nice having the newer FSM and learning about the upgrades you can install.

Well if all of the other functions work correctly it's still good for everybody to know that the later switch will function in the earlier Runners. Makes a trip to the pick N pull easier.

I ran the Lexus ES300 combination switch for 3 months with no problems.
The only reason I swapped it out for the 01 switch was I was accidentally putting it on the AUTO. Sounds dumb, but I kinda was getting nutts doing so.

I had these in the shed for 3 months now. I just got around to cleaning them. The front rims had oil like no tomorrow. I cleaned as much as I could and will paint them. Thing is I don't know what color. I don't want to color them the same color as the LX450.

How do you like the headrest monitors? I'm really thinking about getting some for my daughter, but haven't researched them that much.

It's my 5yr old that loves them. I had them in my old FJ80, Toyota Odyssey RV, and my T4R. Had it 4yrs. I have it connected to my Main DVD head unit. He likes the surround sounds, compared to the headphones. It's a life saver on long trips with his snacks on his lap and his eyes on the movies.
