Thanks for the post/pics!
Did the relay come with the horns or is that from the OEM horn? Thinking of tackling this soon (embarrassed to honk the OEM in SR5). Looking t your post it seems as easy as swapping out OEM for the new ones, right?

I didn't use the relay that came with the horn kit. It was a pretty easy project but if you run into a problem let me know.

Man I can't figure this install out. I have the exact same two horns, using 16 gauge wire wired just like Wild Fan so finely instructed and it just will not work. I've rewired this thing like 87 times thinking maybe I did it wrong and nothing will work. Any way I can test to see if these horns just don't work without using a voltmeter?

yeah I mean I haven't hooked them on or anything yet I was just testing them by setting them on top of the plastic cowling. Even taped them up a few times... I left the stock horn in place and have been testing through it often to see if I blew a fuse or anything.

The red wire takes power to the horns, but it uses the bolt-on for a ground. You have to connect them to some bare metal on the frame before they can complete the circuit when you press the horn button. Just resting them on the plastic won't provide the grounding you need.

I did a very similar install as Harper7 but managed to get both horns on one bracket.

The wiring assembly I used was about 12 inches of 18 gage wire, 1 male connector, and 2 female connectors. The male connector plugs into the connector removed from the stock horn and the two female connectors plug onto the new horns. I used a slightly larger gauge female connector for one of these and inserted two wires into the connector. One that has a male end to the supply connection plug (the connector removed from stock horn) and the other end a second female plug that connects to the second horn. These were all crimp connectors and simple to use. I did tape all connections to reduce water intrusion.

The wife was coming home and I rushed to finish and didn't think to take a finished photo. The horn now sounds normal, well worth the $22 and hour of work.

do you have any pictures of the wiring assembly? I don't know a thing about changing horns or doing the wiring on my SR5. I'm kinda nervous on tackling this. The horn on the new 4runner is embarrassing. thanks for any help.

Well like a lot of guys Toyota's horn is just that....a toy.

Next I wired the the two horns, test fit the brackets, insureing the horns were pointed at about a 45 degree angle to the ground...don't want any water collecting in there.

Any reason why you chose to point them at 45 degrees instead of just straight down? I don't have enough give on the wire to reach both horns so I plan on using your set up but I have the Limited so the rest should just be plug and play. Is there any benefit to pointing them at 45 degrees vs straight down?

Also - Can I just leave my old horns screwed in and unplugged or would that create an issue?

Did you remove the old horns? The horn on my left side is underneath a plastic casing that has 3 screws. I'd have to remove that to be able to have space to remove the horn. I'm not sure what the triangular plastic casing is holding on to though.

Yeah I removed the old horns. The little plastic triangle is easy to remove. After you take off the 3 screws (10mm socket), then you just give it a good pull towards you to pop it loose. It has little plastic connectors as well as the screws. The horns use 12mm I think.

Can anyone help please? I have the same problem. I attached the horns just like TitanPat had. The first test honk resulted in a low high pitch sound. after that, I honked the horn again. This time nothing sounded. I placed back the stock horn to see if it would work again, no luck. Now the stock and the fiamm horn does not work. I tried checking the fuse and it looked fine. When I press the horn, i can here a little clicking noise and that about it. If anyone might know what the problem is I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

I did that so the water/spray does not collect in the horn..it also seems to point out the grill a bit better.

I don't like to use my horn a lot...but when I do I'd like to make it count!

You have to make sure you have a proper ground. When I put the bolt holding the two horns together..I used a "rat tail" file(round) in the hole first, to make sure I had bare metal to bare metal(on the bolt holding the horns together)

If your positive you have a good ground then check all other connections that you did...sometimes you inadvertenly snap a wire when pressing on connectors. A simple 12volt test light will verify that. PM me with any other issues....if your really stuck I'll give you my cell.
