New Light Setup - Thoughts Please

Thanks for your help mace! I picked up some regular mini fuses and popped them in the add-a-circuit and it worked flawlessly! I am going to pick up another add-a-circuit and have the illuminate power with the lights and have the switch power always on.

Once everything is all cleaned up I will post pictures and details of the final install.

Awesome, glad it worked. Can't wait to see the pics.

Finally getting around to pictures of the final product...super easy to Dremel out the inside of the cubby and the six switch holder just squeezes right in. I have double sided 3m mounting tape doing the securing.

That spot is perfect... now I just have to think of 6 things to fill up the space for those switchs...hmmmmmmm

way better then staring at the left side of the dash and thinking about if I have what it takes to cut into it...

That cubby is mostly useless anyway. I like that you can actually see the switches while driving- you can't see them if you mount the panel on the left side of the dash. Can you post a pic with the switches "on"? Oh yeah, and what does it look like with the compartment lid open?

That was exactly what I wanted ask... Curious to know if you can see any of the rear wires etc. with it up?

Please feel free to post any additional pics you have of the instal like the back of the trim plate, did you make a small hole to run the wires or just take the complete back bottom off for open for access to it....? and any more pics to help newbs that have no clue what they are doing gain some additional visual

Ugh...the things I do for you antman...jk! Happy to help.

You can't see any wires exposed simply the top of the trim plate. The fit is snug enough where it hasn't budged since being wedged in there. (Like your tailgate cup holders...cut it just a hair smaller)

I didn't snap any pics of the backside of the panel but if you slowly start dremelimg from the very back of the cubby you can begin to see how it will slide in. There is a HAM radio install using the cubby somewhere around here that has a pretty good visual.

My zombie lights and back up lights are non functional as of now Vegas so fill those blanks up now and it will force you to buy expensive things later! :bigok:

I wonder if OTRATTW would engrave the switches upside down so the top side angles in when pressed? That way you could still see them while on.

Thanks Antman, I'm sure they would do the engraving upside down if you asked - Although that means you wouldn't really see what you were turning on until it on, no?

I think you would see them just fine. Same position when off.

Just pulled the trigger on these switches... Can't wait... I also emailed Eric at wagon wired to see if he is still making his fuse blocks and to get some details the cost and time frame on receiving one... I do not know anything about wiring so it seems like the way to go... If not I'm sure I could go with one of the blue sea fuse panels and give it a go... I am only planning on wiring a few lights and a compressor nothing too crazy that 20-30 PMs to a few of you guys can't fix

Yeah right. That's how it all starts. Then comes dual batteries, more lights, subwoofers, Nav systems, HID's, and on and on and on and on and on and on.


Better get the BIG fusebox.

I'll post some pics when I can, but I totally went the cutting board route to mount my wired wagon fuse box and dual battery relays, it was a perfect fit!

Wired Wagon is the way to go...you won't be dissapointed. Once the initial installation of the fuse box is done, it makes adding things a piece of cake.

Hopefully Eric gets back to you with some good news. Last I heard he took a break from making the panels to work on some othere projects. His work is my first choice, second is one of the 70207 Cirkit Boss kits from Painless Wiring, and then third is the Source from Spod.

I ordered an Aux Relay / Fuse Box from Wired Wagon LLC to keep things tidy. Found this on IH8Mud and have heard great things about it. It comes prewired with relays and fuses in a weatherproof box connected by a fuseable link to the battery. Erik from Wired Wagon was a huge help in answering multiple questions prior to purchase. His support is second to none.

So it looks like Erik is no longer making these boxes. Any suggestions or alternatives?
