New mods Altimeter/Inclinometer + rear hatch mirror

Installed an altimeter from 2nd generation and a rear hatch mirror. The mirror is very helpful when parallel parking. It is mounted to the rear spoiler. No drilling involved. It simply clips on to the hatch (or door edge).

Hilux Surf SSR-X has a mirror that comes out from the rear spoiler when you shift into reverse gear.

It's nice to see another one with an inclinometer. I never finished installing mine...

BTW, it looks like you put the inclinometer on the airbag. That could be pretty dangerous if the airbag ever goes off.

The mirror mod is cool. I have the same issue with backing up.

yep. it MAY be ejected out the window OR into (maybe even through) the passengers face.

I tried to find a place to put the altimeter almost an entire morning. Got so tired afterwards and decided to put it on the air bag cover. I actually saw few 4runners/tacomas with blown air bags (did some research). They all have ripped the air bag cover in the middle (horizontally) and forced the upper half towards the windshield and bottom half towards the floor (see the picture, it's a tacoma)

Just too spooky messing with the airbags trajectory...
I'd rather see if you could inset the guages into the dash below the airbag cover.

This. Adding weight to the top of the airbag cover is likely to deflect the airbag down if it ever goes off, that could mean bad things for your passenger.

I like the idea of pulling the dials and putting them somewhere else in the dash. Maybe a console underneath the rear view mirror, or on a gauge pod in the a pillar?

I don't think our 4Runners came with electronic on/off passenger airbag options. Maybe the newer generations have them, I dunno.

Guy's thanks for the input. My only other alternative is to install a tacoma dash. You can see tacoma dash has a flat surface right above the center AC vents.
