I'm just afraid I won't be able to turn out of the parking lot after I get them installed, haha. I did some measuring though and it seems like there should be plenty of room on level ground.

I wouldn't say plenty of room lol. Like I said, no matter what, you're going to have to trim the front bumper. This is the case with or without a lift kit. Here's mine before the lift and when I had the KO2's under it. Not much room there.

Quite a few of us don't wheel so that's a big part of it. I have very little time to do much and as much as I love playing in the mud, I'll build an old Jeep for that. Not really into risking my brand new truck in the woods but I also hated it with little tiny stock tires.

As far as I can tell, my TRD Pro came with the front bumper already trimmed. Might have to move back the fender liner a tad still though.
yes. stage 2 icon lift.
My old fj was the same way. did the bmc and was good after that.

If you bought it used, maybe. None came trimmed from the factory as new though. Only advantage you have is the TRD Pro sits 1" higher than other models which doesn't make any difference in terms of rubbing the front bumper. You have to unbolt the liner, push it as far forward as possible, bolt it back in, and cut the bumper flush with the liner. I took as much off mine as I could. DO it slow, sharp blade, and it looks like it came that way. Picture is with a 295/70/17 RG

Huh, very interesting, learn something new every day. Either way, you'll need to do a lot more trimming than the little shave that may have been done at the port or the dealer. Looks like they just shave it down a little, likely not going to be enough with a 285.

For anyone wondering what 285/70/17 looks like on an unlifted TRD Pro, here's some pictures. There's only a 1/8" gap between the tire and the modded fender liner at full lock on a level surface, so I'm going to be lifting it this week.

My front bumper was trimmed at the port I presume and no additional trimming was needed for Nitto RG 285/70/17 not to rub under mild to moderate off roading. I am running Icon ET coil overs with SPC UCA with about 3.5 inches of lift in the front.

Any idea why Nitto skipped 70's & 75's on 17's for the RG?

They didn't.................. I run a 295/70/17 and the 285/70/17 as well as the 285/75/17 is available also. What size are you trying to find?

Sorry. I wasn't very specific. I was thinking 270 or 275/70 R17. But I guess there isn't enough difference between 265 & 270 to bother. I'm not going to change my suspension any time soon so figured 275/70 C would fit. I would like 285/70 C but again no suspension upgrade in the forseeable future.

No such thing as a 270 as far as I have ever seen. the 275/70/17 will fit with some trimming, same goes for a 285/70/17 Not all tires are the same though and neither are all 4Runners. I can tell you my 285/70/17 BFG KO2 fit on stock suspension with very little rubbing. The 285/70/17 RG is a bigger tire even though it's the "same size" and would require a lot more trimming. IMO, go with the 275/70/17 KO2, remove the front mud flaps, trim the lower inner edge of the front bumper, and you'll be good to go. Great tire, huge improvement is performance and looks over the stock tires, and a pretty simple fit. Pictured is a 285/70/17 on a 17x8 wheel with 4.5" BS and 0 offset. This worked stock with the same trimming required for the 275, this will not work stock on factory wheels.

Where are you guys finding the best deals on Ridge Grapplers? The 255/80/17s are surprisingly expensive compared to Cooper ST Maxx

i fit the 265/70C on my stock suspension and did have some light rubbing. probably due to the backspacing of my aftermarket wheels though. I used a heat gun to fix 95% of it but i still get the occasional rub at full lock in reverse

Yeah I was thinking the 265's would suffice to get the extra grip of the RG's. My Terra's still have plenty of tread but I'm going to be doing a lot of traveling this summer so will probably be looking for new rubber in the fall.
Could you put up a pic so I can see how they look?
