Northstar Battery group buy 2.0

My newly delivered 31m will sit about 2 weeks before install. Does it need to be charged to full prior to install? Or will the alternator handle it?

Has anyone gotten tracking and it still hasn't shipped? I had a tracking number since May 1st nothing has shipped under it.

Not that my runner is working, but i'm not trying to let this slip away and forget about this purchase

what size battery did you order?

Have you tried contacting the vendor?
 
24M i believe, and I called with no answer. Couldn't leave a voicemail due to a full mailbox. Sent him an email as well, hopefully he replies by tomorrow.
 
Shelf life?

I have my NS battery sitting in the box, new untouched.
How long do you think this battery would stay "good"?
If I don't use if for say 6,12 or even 24 months would it still be as fresh as the day I got it (2 weeks ago)?
Reason is that I want run my stock battery till it's no good.
Anyone have any insight?

The vendor has been excellent replying to my emails. I had an issue with my 27F battery and he was very prompt as was Northstar. They had to send me a new battery and made sure it got here before I went on a 700 mile round trip.

This new battery has some power behind it. I've never heard the starter turn over so quick.

Forgot to update due to some 4runner trouble, but yes they replied the next day. Battery was back ordered so I have to wait a little longer. Not a big deal though

Hey Dave. I asked our question in my electrical wiring class about how long our new batteries will last in the box. He said a couple months no problem. A year or two he said not a good idea.

Can you guys give me a list of parts i need to extend the battery line to hook up the group 31M. AutoZone or somewhere like that. Going to try to tackle this, Saturday.

i didnt extend mines, but if you want you can get the 4 gauge, or make your own with 1 new terminal and 1 gauge wires. i think the ground, on my end since i have modified my 4th gen quite a bit, i use a 4 gauge screw on butt connector and extended that only by some inches. hope you guys do a big 3 while you have the battery out.

upgrade the positive power wire to a thick one from battery to alternator.
upgrade the negative wire to a thick one from battery to engine.
upgrade the negative wire to a thick one from battery to body.
u can also add another negative engine to body if you have left over.
voltage should be more stabilized if you do alot of power draw.
you can get a hydraulic crimper of eaby for cheap, i got one for 30 or less and it works good, should of invested one when i started my stereo system. having a nicely done terminal. i did the hammer technique and it looks a lil ghetto, but it works.

drops right in and hooks right up. No addtl. wiring changes needed
 
31M is different from the 27f you have. Not sure if the 5th gen need to be modify. But on the 4th gen. The neg post will hit the hood.
 
In the 5th gen the 31m height is fine, but in my case the positive lead from the fuse box is too short to reach pos terminal. I still have not implemented a fix yet. I am waiting for some 7" terminal post to side post extensions from remy battery. I only need about 2" extension, but other than making the extensions myself, which wouldn't be overly difficult, i found these off-the-shelf doodads.

i thought about doing a 4 inch extension with 1 gauge cable and use this
