NYC-Runner Build Thread

Looking good up in here. Lots of progress. Did you regear and add a front locker or just the 4.56's? Those are going to treat you pretty good to, so it's worth it even if you didn't lock it up front.

Bobby

Thanks buddy! Yeah I re geared to 4.56s and did the Elocker in the rear. Front locker wasn't in the budget this go round. So far they feel great I can't wait to get off the pavement with them and the locker as well!

Loving the trailer man! Freaking sweet. We were planning on going to Moab Rock Therapy and thought about getting a trailer with an RTT but it was way out of budget. Making one is pretty cool. Instead for the time being I may get an ARB awning and a room tent. :peep:

Bobby

Thanks again buddy haha. That's going to be awesome man sounds like a great trip! A trailer would be sweet man but yeah I hear you, I honestly didn't think it was going to be as big of a project as it has been. But it's been a fun process. Those awning rooms are sweet, that will be a great set up. I want to get a couple awnings, one for the truck and one for the trailer eventually but man I've just been drained between both right now so I just need to get out take a brake and go camping and do some solid wheeling. Were Heading down to Rausch Creek for 5 days next week for FJNE so that'll be sweet and I'll get to test out the trailer set up.

I did me yearly front end maintenance today. Well it's only yearly when you buy cheaper aftermarket Lca's I guess. I started getting some pretty bad squeaking from me driver side LCA and also noticed the bushing looked stretched out. I also did my upper BJ's and UCA bushings while I was at it. I've been running those BJ's and upper bushing since I did my lift going on almost 2 1/2 years now. I started getting a little play in the BJ's so I figured it was time. The bushing were actually in great shape and didn't need to be replaced but I figured I'd do them while I was at it. I also did my 500 mile break in drain and fill today for the new gears and locker. Now I can go back to driving like normal. The new gears feel great though, can't wait to get it out on the trail!

I feel like this is seriously cheating.......doing maintenance on a lift. Pssshhh.

Or maybe I'm just jealous cause I've been crawling around on the garage floor working on getting my gears and lockers in. Haha.

what LCA's are you useing thats giving you issues.

Some ones from rockauto ( I don't remember which brand) they didn't stand up well to all the wheeling I did last year! I'm seriously considering getting some stock length total chaos or dirt king LCA's in the future.

Haha in a all fairness I only used it to do the LCAs and only because my buddy was done with it for the day. I usually just use the bay next to it that doesn't have the a lift. But boy does it make things easier!

Oh I know the feeling all to well m, I didn't have access to this when we did mine either nor a garage for that matter. We did them in my buddy's driveway and got lucky with the weather and still ended up fighting against daylight!

Had a great weekend at the 9th annual FJ Northeasters! Awesome weekend amongst great friends good food, camping and wheeling. I finally got the trailer about 90% finished up to bring camping, the new set up worked great! The tent was awesome and it was great having all the extra storage to keep everything in so the 4Runner wasn't jam packed.

I took it kind of easy this weekend being that a just finished the break in period with the new gears. The plan was to stick to mostly blue trails which for those who don't know it goes green (easy) blue( medium) black ( hard) red ( ridiculous ) and yet I still somehow ended up on some black trails, go figure. The new gears kicked ass the truck just walked up everything so much easier. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try out the new locker because of a mishap with the switch being misplaced so it's not hooked up yet. But there was really only one place I felt the need I could of used it other than that Atrac all day!

I only have a few pics on my phone for now I won't get the other ones uploaded of my camera until I get back to my computer tomorrow.

^^^^That's awesome. Can't wait until we have our club event in July. You should come out- haha. Too bad on the locker though. I would have had wires hanging out of the dash and shorting them out to lock it up. lol. Diggin' the trailer too. I hope to do the same someday.

too bad you didnt get to experience the amazingness that is a locker. if just gears made that big of a difference for you just wait till you use the locker, no more 2-5 second period of just sitting, waiting for atrac. But the 35s will rock your world. climbs that required me to bump it hard or make multiple attempts have become one try no drama obstacles now. hope to see pics and videos of the wheeling if there is any.

That's how I feel about my 35's! I climb right over crap I never thought possible with ease.

Nyc-Runner Another fun time as always, man! The black trails just seem to always have our names on them.

I wish i could make it out but i already have a couple big trips planned for this season and probably more that aren't planned yet in between haha I know i was bummed about the locker but i was more invested in getting the trailer ready to go on this trip to give it a shake down run. It did awesome though! Also there was really only one occasion where i probably could have used it, everything the truck walked right up!

I know i know i can't wait and yes i can only imagine how nice the 35's will crawl over everything!I've gotten very good with the "bump" method and have become best friends with good old "momentum" as well haha No vids unfortunately and i really didn't get that many pics of this run, i usually take a lot more! But i have a few i'm going to post up.
