NYC-Runner Build Thread

LOL Yup it's happening:hiding:. It's still a little hard to talk about and I still can't look directly at any pictures of my truck :fear::( I'm still having mixed emotions. But I'm happy for what's ahead! Just a new page on the 4x4 journey, and don't worry guys it's still a Toyota!

I'm putting together a build sheet now and figuring out what I'm going to list it for. I have a few minor things to do to it before I post it up. Hopefully it goes to a good home or member thats going to use it for what it's intended for Exploring the unbeaten path!!!

Going to get that small dent in the door fixed

I need to replace one of speed sensors are harnesses because I have the abs,slip,VSC lights on

Thinking about pulling the plasti dip off ( since they're going to have to anyways to fix the dent)

Other than that just clean it up a bit and take some good pics! I'll post up some pics of the new ride when I get it and I'll still be one here from time to time as I'm going to be wheeling with a bunch of you still!
 
Post up and let us know when you pick up an 80. I'd definitely like to follow along! I'm sure you are going to love it on the trails.

We'll just peeled off the plasti dip and it's definitely not helping the process [emoji22]I've never seen it with the clean paint since I built it up like this! By the way peeling off plasti dip sucks balls!!!

Just keep it AND get an 80. That's really the only logical and sensible thing to do.

Haha I hear you, I wish I could man but I can only have one right now. I already have lack of space for the toys that I have so two truck is just not doable at the moment. Money kinda plays a roll too lol

A lot of people don't after with this decision and I understand where a lot of them are coming from because they've seen me build it and put a lot of time and energy into what is it today. But I have a itch that I need to scratch so id rather do it now than wait 2-5 however many years to do it. If it's a mistake then again I'd rather do it and learn now rather than waiting ,, and then I can move on.Not the first vehicle I've modded and dumped a bunch of money into and I promise it won't be the last.

I'm happy to keep the 4x4 journey going and learn a new platform and wheel a new bad ass rig! I've only gotten into the 4x4 world 4 years ago and had no idea that I was going to involved the way that I have. But I feel this is the right move for where I'm at right now. Am I 100% sure no but how often in life are we. Life is to short my friends so you gotta do what makes you happy and live life to the fullest every chance you get.. damn who would think you could ever get do deep about a 4Runner and off roading lolll

I know where you are coming from. When they totaled the 4Runner I went through a lot of internal arguments on whether to get a LC. Looked at every 60, 80, 100 and LX within 1500 miles. Finally reached a point where I had to make a decision and realized that I needed to just keep my 4Runner. I love her, and wasn't ready to break up with her yet.

Haha it literally is like going thru a break up isn't it? I've been having this guilty feeling in my stomach since this whole process started but then mixed with happiness for the new rig to come! I feel like Ron Burgandy in the phone booth Stuck in a glass cage of emotion:decision::jump::Cry:. If I was still Daily driving the 4Runner it would even be a question but that what really opened this whole thing up. Well that and I've been lusting for the 80 for some time now. Any who I've come to grips with it and am looking forward to the journey ahead.

On a side note I tell my friends all the time that they should have WA meetings :grouphug:(Wheelers Anonymous) loll but hey the first step is admitting you have a problem right...:loco:

I just feels like this is right for what my needs are and what I like to do right now. I've spoken to a lot of friends who's been in the 4x4 world for a long time and most of them have been thru a pretty good number of rigs until of course they find the ONE or what works best for them at their current stage of off roading or "overloading" or whatever it may be that we like to do? I do go on "Overlanding" style trips which usually lead to pretty challenging wheeling. But for the most part it's all in the north east a about 3-5 hours away but if I wanted to go a longer distance with the 80 I still can I just won't be able to drive as fast haha (probably a good thing for me). But I do like to Wheel and that is where the 80 is going to shine!

It all depends on what your current needs are? Mine have changed and I'm sure they will again down the road some day. I also like the process of madding and building stuff up, I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive!I'm sure I'll be in another 4runner again some day? Who knows, I've always loved the 5th gens or we'll see what they come out with in the future....

Well, even though it will take you twelve more hours to get here in an 80, you're still welcome to come wheel the Black Hills with it.

Well guys it's done! The 4Runner is officially sold and got picked up a few days ago and is on its way to its new owner who will be bringing it to Alaska which I think is pretty amazing and exactly what the truck is built for!! Unfortunately I wasn't there to see the truck off so I don't have any goodbye pictures. It's been a fun journey and I'm sure I'll be in another 4Runner at some point in the future.

I'd like to thank all the peeps on here who's knowledge and great write ups helped me along the way of my build! This Forum really is amazing and I've learned so much on here and wouldn't have been able to do half of the stuff on my build with out it.

I haven't really gotten a chance to play with the new rig yet as I've been to busy but it's currently under the knife already getting its rear quarters armored up because it's a big wide pig lol I have some plans for it already! Nothing crazy as all the major things are already done but to name a few ,,

Quarter armor
Roof rack
Synthetic winch line
Factor 55 flat link
Pod light for the bumper
Side and rear lights for the roof rack
Custom cargo barrier
Double swingouts tire carrier/ladder
Double din head unit
Indel B 41qt fridge

Most of which I already order or have and am waiting instal when I get the truck back before the FJNE run at the end of the month!

It's a really great solid rig though! I've only gotten to take it out once on a snow run so it wasn't really a great judge of character but it pretty much goes up and over anything I pointed it at haha So different from the 4Runner! It just feels like a older stouter truck but I love it!!!

I'll come by and check up on everyone from time to time.
