OEM Running Boards on 2014 4Runner SR5

My 2015 came with the slightly longer running boards but always preferred the slightly shorter with the lengthwise billeted holes running along the top. new ones cost about $350-$399 on Ebay. Like others have said, super easy, 6 sets of 2 bolts each, on and off.

Finally picked up and installed some boards (Toyota part# PT 92589140) from EB TOYOTA PARTS | toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.com
MUCH less than other dealers, like 1/2.
Was told this is the newest "OEM accessory" running board.

I wanted all black but these have a stainless, silver strip that I'm getting used to.
Install was typical which is fast and easy and stock mud flaps stay.

Do these running boards seem a little low? Installed at the Dealer and they said it was the correct fit. Help anyone! Thank you for your help. Installed on our 2015 Model.

they are the correct running boards IF you have the limited, those are the R6 option code running boards.

that extra space to accommodate the rocker panels on the limited.

they should have ordered the correct ones for the SR5. those running boards don't fit the TE only the KH option codes fit the TE.

Sorry but yes, they are very low. They are decent boards, but my dealer tried to put those same ones on my truck. They told me they had a lot of these and were trying to get rid of them. They are after market "accessories" no where near what the factory puts on.........which in most cases you can't get.
Take a look at mine, I think the pix are just above yours. Mine are even lower than factory.

Personally I can't stand the look. The gap between the door and the step is not pleasing to the eye. Shouldn't they only install OEM parts and not aftermarket parts that apparently do not fit? Thanks

Bought the car 8/5/15 and had the dealer add the running boards. I was never told they would be aftermarket boards. (Discovered recently) I had called the dealer 1 week after install and they said the boards were normally low like my pics. Do I have a case in requesting them to swap out the boards for the correct ones? Hope so? Any thoughts??? Help. Thanks!

really depends on the dealer. unless you specified OEM running boards they can sub anything they want.

if your doing OEM

those look like the oem R6 running boards but installed incorrectly.

you can also fit the oem KH rigid running boards (they are the thin black ones that come on the trail editions only).

but since you said they are not OEM, aftermarket running boards are a fit all solution so they wont look right.

Dealer fixing problem

Got a call from the dealer and they finally admitted the running boards installed are incorrect. Having them swapped out tomorrow am. Thanks to everyone on this board who steered me in the right direction! Really appreciate your knowledge and time spent responding to my questions!!!!! Thanks again!! Dealer came through and apologized for installing the incorrect running boards. As my grandmother always said, 'The squeaky wheel always gets the oil!
