My point is there is nothing more that this new truck can do that my 3rd generation can't. So what is the point of forking out an extra $30,000?
That's some weird logic you're using. The same thing could have been said by the guy who purchased your 3rd gen when it was new. I'm sure there were plenty of 1st and 2nd gens around that he could have purchased for a fraction of the price that he paid for a new 3rd gen.
BTW, Toyota will most likely price the 5th gen very closely to the '09 models. Don't expect the price to rise a lot in this economy.
