As explained to you above, hp is not the only reason many of us love our V8. There are good reasons why many luxury vehicles that will never tow or haul anything have more than 6 cylinders in them - smoothness, quickness, torque, etc are all traits that a V8 offers in abundance over their v6 counterparts. .
Well, all I can say to you is to be glad that you have your V8 engine. And try to keep it is good condition because Toyota may never bring back the V8 engine in a 4Runner again. They might, but they might not...nobody knows for sure at this point in time.
I still find the whole debate amusing because there wouldn't be any discussion at all if Toyota never decided to offer a V8 in the 4Runner in the first place. Everyone would have been satisfied with the V6 and we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
I'm not sure if you've noticed this or not, but V8 engines have been declining in numbers over the years. Due to advances in engine technology, engineers have been able to design smaller, more efficient engines to replace the V8. It's really just a matter of time before the V8 will be very rare in new vehicles. So enjoy it while you can and try not to be so against alternate powerplants because you might not even have the option in the future, just like what's happening here with this 5th 4Runner.
