Orderd a 5th Gen, what is the expected wait?

Here's what I have learned in my quest for the Runner. All dealers can glance at the regional inventory at all other dealers. But a dealer may bring in a car and tag it as "sold' even if that's not true, just to keep that particular car in stock. So other dealers won't think it's available. They may want to have one around if it's popular. So no one else knew about the car. In fact, when I went back to this dealer, I did not even bother asking beforehand whether they had what I was looking for in stock because I had been told by other dealers and a broker that I would have to wait till July also. By the way, there's another one in the showroom in Bay Ridge Toyota (Limited, 3rd row - Blizzard Pearl, Nav, Black interior). I also have a broker I've dealt with in the past....cheapest prices and he locates the car when no one else can. Good luck. I got lucky. In fact I drove in with my own set of wheels not expecting to buy a car, walked out with the runner and left my car on the lot to pick up later!
The reason I didnt get excited over the Bay Ridge Toyota Lmtd 3rd row.... I sort of wanted the Beige interior. If you're interested, have your dealer call them. They did do something funny with the interior. Not sure why the Dealer added an aftermarket funky "woodgrain" interior that's sort of a zebra pattern to the consoles and I'm not sure it can be removed. But let me tell you, I had visited EVERY dealer within 20 miles of my home (3 or 4 in New Jersey, 2 in Brooklyn, a few in Long Island, Manhattan) and otherwise couldn't find the one I was looking for. If you're interested, I could also call the broker I was dealing with who may be getting one in.

Dude... are you sure you ordered a vehicle? Do you have a VIN? I can't believe you still don't have a vehicle. Hope you didn't put any cash down, though if you didn't that could be an issue. dunno. - Signed Concerned in CO

And I thought my 2-3 week wait was painful... YIKES. They must be selling really well here in Colorado... one dealer has 38 4runners on their lot and a couple other dealers in the metro area have 17, 22 or so each. I remember when I was all excited just to see two or three on a dealer's lot.
Really liked working with a broker... he was able to locate exactly the vehicle I wanted and the price was excellent.
That is messed up... I realize everyone has different taste... sounds like they are tryin to pimp it Lexus style... but that's just scary. IMO. -Signed, Too Boring for Fake Wood

Not only scary, but I called to ask the dealer if they sould remove the zebra striped paneling and they said they couldn't. Since Toyota didn't make the product, it was a "glue on" and can't be removed. In the New York area, I've never seen a dealer where there were more than 3 or 4 Runners on a lot at any one time.

I got the VIN number along with a copy of the "Vehicle Inquiry Report" on May 7 (exactly 7 weeks after my order date). The only reason they gave me the information is because I asked. I wanted to review the details of my truck to make sure everything was just the way I ordered it.
Good luck with your truck. The wait when ordering sucks, but to get exactly what you want should be well worth it in the end.

I dealt with them 2x. The last time I test drove a RAV4 that was set up the same way as what you described above. It must be the 'hood they're located in! :wink2:

I seriously think you're being ___'d with. I had a broker locate 3 Shoreline Blue LTDs and they all had a delivery date within a month... and I think I had mine 2 weeks after I said GO.
If I were you... I'd be calling other dealers and have them attempt to locate a vehicle how you want it... then I'd go back to your first dealer and get them to do something or get your money back.

Sounds like a bunch of crap to me as well. How could we both order trucks the same week and mine be here now, and yours about 2 months later (basically double the amount of time)? I think there is definitely something fishy going on.

its a pretty large dealership, i highly doubt they would they would scam me. but in any case if they do, there are plenty of lawyers here in pa..
i will wait till july. there are some other folks here who have ordered and get it in 3-4 months. Just amazed others here got theirs much sooner than that.

I don't know what color Limited or exactly what options you were waiting on, but like I said earlier, check the dealership in Kingston, NY in the Hudson Valley (not far from PA), I just saw 2 Limiteds (1 black w. black leather, 1 white w. beige leather) on their lot last week, and 2 SR5s (white and red). Dealership is Prestige of Kingston, I dealt with Autumn in Internet Sales and she was good to deal with, quick response over email... Good Luck.

all I ordered was a blizzard limited with 3rd row seat, nav, beige...what the #$#$#$# is so complicated about that....why cant TOyota make these for North east is beyond me...i wouldnt have had to special order this and wait:crybaby:

I test drove the car with a guy named Miguel. Bay Ridge treated me nicely, but it's hard to get straight answers over the phone when dealing with most dealerships. I had the most amazing experience at a Long Island dealership. i went in and asked to test drive a Limited. The salesman comes back in a couple of minutes, tosses me the keyfob and tells me to take the one outside for a spin. Didn't take license info, name, nothing, So I zipped out of there on my own. Lot of trust, I thought. Again, in the New York metro area, I'm within 15 - 20 minutes of about 10 dealers so it was no big deal to leave work and check out inventories in person. That's when I stumbled on the Limited I ended up buying. Love the car, by the way.

LOL this is getting more painfull by the week...called dealer again..states toyota has to send letter acknowledging they accepted my order..its been little over 2 months now...then it takes about another 3-4 months to get special order! Dealer did say they would be happy to refund the money and "no hard feelings"
at this rate, i should just wait for 2011 version. the 2010 model year only has what another 4-5 months..this is a complete bs. maybe just may get something else after all this time here! Toyota clearly cant get its act together thats for sure. Ridiculous that 3rd row 4r on limited cant be found in NE for options i want!!!!!:redbrick:
