Plastidip Trail Wheels w/ Pictures

I'm considering doing this to my 4th gen Limited wheels. Quick questions which some may have already addressed:
1.) Just remove the center caps and spray multiple coats just like the process for the wheels?
2.) You're not spraying from the rear of the wheel as well? I assume you get good enough coverage from just spraying from the front?
3.) Multiple thin coats is alright? I saw a Youtube video of a guy basically spraying one dense coat and it turned out great. Not really sure on this.
4.) Is it worth trying to spray paint the lugs black? I'm not sure how durable this would be. I've got some black paint I sprayed my hitch with and was considering it for the lugs, but don't want flaking.

1) Yep, I sprayed my center caps and they look great.
2) I only sprayed from the front. They look really nice. No reason to spray the back. Just make sure you get all angles from the front. That's probably the trickiest part.
3) I did my first wheel with multiple coats, but realized by the fourth wheel that you can spray the stuff on pretty thick. It's hard to describe, but this stuff is not like paint. It comes out of the nozzle in big drops, not a mist. I sprayed a couple of my wheels really thick and they came out as good if not better than the ones where I sprayed with multiple thin coats.
4) Don't paint the lugs black, you'll knock the plastic off just by putting them back on the truck. In fact, by the fourth wheel I was spraying hardly any PD in the wheel lugs holes. You can't see in there anyway, and I figured the less that was in there, the less chance the PD would start to peel from that point from taking the wheel on and off.
You can touch it up a bit, it's just going to look a bit like a scab.
Spacers are not required, only if you like the looks.

other 4th gen members who plasti-dipped their rims have also recommended some matte- clear coat as a final coat to give it a bit more durability...

It looks good, but I would go crazy worrying about nicking off the Plasti-Dip.

Yes, Krylons makes a matte or flat clear coat. When I blacked out my trails a year ago, I didn't ue plastidip, but I used a matte black + matte clear and they held up very well.

I'm thinking of doing this to my wheels...I just put in an order for some new Wrangler Duratracs and figured I could do the wheels at the same time...would it be better to have the wheels changed over to the new tires first and then PD them or have them take off the wheels, PD them, and then have them put them on the new tires? Would it hold up?

I think I would plasti-dip after they put on the new wheels

Probably after, unless you weren't using PD and using paint and getting the whole wheel. I suggest getting index cards and using them around the wheel. Its a bit easier than masking off the whole area, plus you can get a real good angle of the lip without getting any on the tire.
