Real Hi/Lo Beam LED bulb! AWESOME!

DRLs will still work, like OEM it is a little difficult to tell the difference in brightness between the two but there is just about the same diff as halogens.

I can see my LEDs flicker when in DRL mode, but only out of the corner of my eye not directly, odd.

They don't flicker once Full on or in Hi mode.

They are whiter but not Blue either looking at them or their output.

Overall they can't really throw light much further than halogens because they are limited by the reflector yet I think because they're so white it does look brighter and does appear the light is cast further.

Kinda worried about the moisture since they won't take the rubber end covers anymore.

I rated them OK as a slight improvement, the GF thinks they're great compared to the halogens so I guess that wins it!! They're keepers :cowboy:

Any chance of getting some pics? Listen to the GF. If they are not happy...no one is happy. LOL

I say the same thing until I get behind the wheel of my Audi, projectors are real nice. Maybe one day tech will give us a happy medium between the two.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I seem to recall a conversation with a one or two folks here about the projector option for us, and that durability or reliability became a factor of consideration. Not sure what thread or maybe it was via PM... Still waking-up, so maybe I'm not remembering correctly!

If we have a marked improvement with these LEDs, and for the price, I'll be a happy camper. The two year warranty is nice as well, should they have issues or fail...

Thanks for the review.

What halogens are you comparing these with?

There are no LED/HID made when put into halogen housings that control the low beam light keeping it out of oncoming drivers eyes (ILLEGAL BLINDING OTHERS) in all states. Just for reference I took some pictures close to the ones posted. My measured (not guessed) 12' from the wall using GE Nighthawk bulbs. The farther away the more obvious the legal/illegal light is. The difference is very clear between halogen bulbs in halogen housing compared to LED. Notice the very defined line of light on low beam (LEGAL/NOT BLINDING OTHERS) compared to the high beams and LED on low beam.

That is my take on it also why I call these a experimental shot for $40. Had some HID's from DDM that didn't blind folks, output was better than Silver Stars that got totaled along with redrunner. See where it goes.

Forgive me but are these shots of the halogen bulbs or the LED's we have all been talking about?

There is that, the threads I've read don't mention long term use like two three years could of missed thread that did though. The OE projector housings I've taken apart do a lot better job of supporting the guts than we can do using retro fit options available on the market. Have ideas for better support of internals but that's a $400 experiment vs $40, Lol.

if I had the time, patience and $$$, I would try the projector route but does not look like I have much of any of that right now. These LED's have performed well for me and I expect to get at least 2 years (warranty via Amazon) out of them. For $33.99 and the improve light, they fit my circumstances pretty well.

Would love to see some comparisons "beam" shots when folks get these things installed....

I do know this. I have purchased aftermarket headlight assemblies and when I used LED bulbs in them, they threw a purplish color. Put in my original assemblies and the light was right and white.....guess it has something to do with the shroud in the aftermarket assemblies....

Yup, that was my concern too, seeing that the sharp cutoff that was present with the halogens was no longer present with the LEDs. I'm curious to try them nonetheless, but if they have any hint of blinding oncoming traffic, back they go. I'm itching to do an HID retrofit anyway :).

From a brightness stand-point, I'm set-up to get a baseline a bit later tonight. My phone, with the aforementioned Light Meter app will be where the cardboard cut-out is in this image. Directly in front of the passenger side headlight, about 3' away.

are these LEDs the 'oEdRo' this thread is about?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075J8VQDX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I put the oEdRos on, they do Not blind oncoming drivers, not one vehicle, tall or short, has flashed me in about 300 miles of night driving so far. They are designed to emit light in the same directions as halogens and the reflector ensures the light only goes where its supposed to. LEDs without reflectors will do just what you say though.

That's my experience so far, now for longevity tests!!! As long as they last a couple three years they are worth the extra brightness, I notice it more and more each time I use them. Luck to all! :cowboy:

I just baselined my Philips X-treme Vision budget bulbs ($17 for a pair).

At that distance (against the side of the trailer), slowly moving it around to find the highest readings, the app measured about 2,000 lux. The sweet spot saw a max of a little over 2,400 lux. I did this four about 5 minutes.

I should have time to install these LEDs tomorrow, assuming I do indeed get them...

Not sure what to expect, but if indeed brighter, 25% would register 3,000 lux.

Cowboy, this is good feedback and my experience (positive one at that) mimics yours. I have not had one single person flash me with these. I am hoping these will last. At least there is a 2-year warranty (if purchased from Amazon and backed up by Amazon). I figure if I even get a year out of them (expecting at least two), they are well worth what I paid ($33.99 "Lightning deal") + free shipping with Prime. I just got sick of replacing the high priced halogens. LED generally lasts long and the whiter, brighter light is a benefit. Wishing everyone who decided to try these - the best of luck.

Those are the bulbs I have as well. Plus I bought brand new 99-02 headlight assemblies and my lights are super bright. Wondering if it makes much more of a difference.

Well, I'll find-out soon enough. I work from home, and I literally just got them about 5 minutes ago while on a conference call in the front yard...

EDIT / ADD: Got them installed. I also did so with the wire down, at the 6 o'clock position. I noticed that my electrical connectors have seen better days. I'll replace them at some point with new ones. I sprayed them with an electrical cleaner, then coated the blades NOALOX. I'll fire it tonight and measure the output...

Done testing.

Using the exact same procedure as before, the highest reading I got with these bulbs was a little over 2,000 lux. So, about 400 lux less than my Philips X-treme Vision. Hmmm.

I did not go out for a drive though, and maybe i'll do that tomorrow, but from an objective stand-point, the output of these, according to a well-regarded light meter app is actually about 15% less.

Given that I'd prefer to use the OEM protective covers, prefer more output, probably have better longevity and get back 35 bucks, I'm inclined to return them... I might do a drive test first though.

Specifications are specifications.

Like in the audio world a true audiophile knows one can't judge on specifications alone.

On the flip side, I Cannot believe you haven't gone for a night drive yet!!!

Driving to work this morning, I really liked how the oEdRos are White, white not blue or purple. I see road reflectors among everything else better as a result. I think my older eyes like the whiter light much better compared to the sylvania silverstar ultras used before, they really look rather Yellow in comparison. So to me specifications are useful to an extent, real world decides it. Luck all.

I am with you jque. I like the whiter light. It's all about the real-life experience and use. Nothing can substitute for that.
