Real Hi/Lo Beam LED bulb! AWESOME!

Since the subject is quality LED replacement bulbs, anyone know of any great replacements for my 02 fog lights? Plug and play, like the headlights?

What you mention is to be done after you rotate these bulbs to get beam pattern correct (horizontal).

Lol I tried messing with that too but I'm not exactly sure what's the correct beam pattern??

I tried to adjust so it doesn't have that much glare on top of where it's supposed to be cut off, and I adjusted based on the amount of light I see on the road...to be honest I feel like I have these adjusted way too low lmao.

I will post some pics where I'm behind someone else's car...but how far away should I be and where should the light be at that distance normally?
Like I'll actually measure so we can have some more pics

I ended up taking them out. Felt like "that guy" the whole way home, wayyy too bright. Maybe I got a crappy set

Sure you had them installed correctly? The two sides with more LED elements face upwards, the sides with fewer elements go downward.

Also, keep in mind that a certain percentage of the population is very sensitive to higher light frequencies and perceives a 6500K light as brighter than a 3000K light even if the 6500K light is actually producing *less* light as measured by a photometer. I just ran a test with a friend of mine who was complaining about the new stock LED lights on cars as being misaimed - we ran the same model car (2017 and 2018 Mustang) with HIDs and another one with LEDs after I checked and made sure each was producing the same pattern. Turns out they aren't misaimed, it's just photosensitivity in that particular spectrum.

Definitely had them in wrong, didn't realize turning the base affected anything
Much better

Now you got me wondering if mine are installed correctly. When I'm about ten feet from my garage door, the center of the lights is about 4 feet up. Yours are at the floor...or I may be seeing the pic wrong? No one has flashed me yet and I've driven the last few nights in traffic. No one flash.

You should be seeing the cutoff on top, like this:

If you see this pattern, then they are installed correctly. As for aiming, you adjust the up/down such that the hotspot is roughly level with the headlight. So if the headlight is X inches from the ground, you want to back away about 10' from a wall and adjust the hotspot to be the same X inches from the ground (there are more precise directions on how to aim, this is the gist of it).

I wanted to report back on my testing with the OEDRO and Hikari bulbs. I kept the OEDRO in the driver headlight, and put in a Hikari bulb in the passenger side.

It's very difficult to take good pictures of beam patterns (at least for me, who is not a pro), but here are my impressions of what I saw:

- The cutoff was basically the same with both bulbs. About the same amount of light bled up above the cutoff. This was disappointing, as I was hoping that the Hikaris would have a better cutoff.

- The Hikaris are noticeably brighter, consistent with what Tony measured with his lux meter. On the one hand that's good, on the other hand, I thought the OEDROs were bright enough, so I'm not sure I need more firepower. The Hikaris were also a bit more white, making the OEDRO look a little more yellow/green.

- The Hikari has a more concentrated hot spot, which projected forward like a laser beam, compared to a more uniform pattern of the OEDROs. I really did not like that. What I found as I was driving was that my eye was drawn to the very bright spot where the Hikari hit the ground, which is distracting. I preferred the uniformity of the OEDROs.

So, my Hikari kit is going back to Amazon; OEDRO is the winner in my opinion :).

Here are the shots of the cutoffs on the wall. First photo shows that the Hikari is a bit brighter:

This shows a comparable amount of light bleeding above the cutoff:

And here is the pattern on the ground, where you can see the laser beam pattern on the right side:
