I don't like political parties myself, although I like to be a part of the process as much as I can as an independent. The reality is that with our system and the electoral college, a two party system is almost an inevitability; it is a product of our peculiar republican form of democracy. In some ways I think party affiliations and party participation is actually a far more logical and honest approach than my own insistence on remaining an independent, especially with our primary system etc.
Oh well.

Well I have lived in to vastly different states! California and Alaska, and I've noticed it all comes down to the society you were raised in and what beliefs were shoved down your throat! Here in cali if I mention the fact that I have a gun most people get uneasy and tend to stay away except for the gun nuts and hunters which I tend to be around. In Alaska you could walk into a bank and there would be somebody standing in line making a with draw having a rifle strung over their shoulder. Now im not talking about a small mountain town. This is the CAPITAL CITY!!! Guns are only as deadly and unsafe as they people carrying them. California is an amazing state except for the liberal political non sense!!! As for if they tried to take my guns and make them illegal so be it. The second amendment was created to keep the government from be coming a tyrannical force that tried to control free man. Which is what we are free people!! There is to many ignorant people that need to be educated. I'm very sad to see where this liberal leaning country is going. It's all about liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness.......

Cali is the least free state of them all. Looks like everything gives you cancer, car parts are illegal, Gas prices leave you butt hurt and, now you can only own toy guns.

I lived in Juneau for several years and never even heard of someone carrying a rifle in a bank, store, etc., let alone saw anyone doing it, so I'm curious as to how this ultra-casual regard to weapon carriage came about (and when).
I can't even think of a scenario where someone would carry a rifle in a bank there, anyway: there's not a ton of big game hunting in a town landlocked by glaciers, nor is there any hunting I can think of that's within walking distance of a bank.
