I like the sliding tray in my TE. I use it a lot because it really makes loading and unloading certain things from the back much easier--especially heavy and awkward stuff, and it makes the cargo deck flat. Of course there's trade-offs: The plastic divider sticks up even when it's in the "down" position so that pretty much eliminates the "flat" deck, and you lose several inches of vertical storage space, and when the divider is in the "up" position it limits the length of what you can put on the sliding deck.
Anyways, I have a drawer design in mind that would utilize the existing sliding deck. I'm going to experiment with it then post some photos of prototypes on here. But I think I have a couple of good ideas for making it work.

Toyota probably didn't design the sliding cargo tray for that intended reason, but that feature can be utilized for mounting a fridge...Yes,it does take a lot of rear cargo space and probably is not practical for some...but i know guys who mount drawers back there on 4th gens to accommodate all there gear for off roading.*Notice the sliding tray for the fridge*

I'm still in the shopping phase. My top priority is maximum cargo space, and a totally flat floor with the second row down is a "nice to have."
Q1: Which configuration provides the most cargo space?
a) 3 row
b) 2 row with cargo deck or
c) 2 row, no deck?
It seems like I would like the 3rd row the least. Based on previous photos in this thread, it looks like that configuration really raises the floor! If I had to choose only between that and the cargo deck, the deck doesn't look so bad anymore!

No such thing, if you remove it you have to DIY your own replacement. There's a bunch of different examples on here of guys building flat floors or storage drawers.

I for one like the utility of having it and don't miss the cargo space. Different strokes for different folks buddy.

How much money do you have or should I stop looking up parts now?These are for the 13's which they don't have a list for a 14 yet but more then likely exactly the same as I don't think it's changed from the 14 one I saw in a LE.

The deck alone msrp's for $930 from Toyota and you need the carpet panel underneath which is about $275 and the floor cover in front to tie in the second row seats which is another $350 and all the hardware too which is a couple of hundered more .And that's not even figuring in the rear side panels which are different, also priced like they are gold plated too and won't match up unless you change them also. Then figure in a good 4-6 hrs labor to swap them and you'll see why nobody has done it yet in the almost 5 years it's been out.It would probably be cheaper to trade your truck in on one that has it.
This has been discussed a bunch of times and the only way it would happen is if you swapped with somebody that had one and didn't want it. Even then it would take someone pretty mechanically inclined to do the swap as the side panels are tough to get out. As in you basically have to take all the panels including the rear seats out to take those side panels out and it's like a giant jigsaw puzzle with the panels overlapping.

I bought tray on ebay for 200, install in one hour no drilling required.
piece of cake. i`m sure 2013 tray will fit in 14. same body.
search on ebay.
I love my tray, i seat on it when putting ski boots and it feels solid I`m 260 LB.

That's a good idea.Did you get the front floor cover and storage box with it too or is there a gap there on yours?
I didn't see one on ebay but a few people on here have taken there's out and [MENTION=87772]ochoa1801[/MENTION] might be able to find a used one by posting a WTB in the sales/wtb sticky. I did a little more research and the side panels are the same for tray and no tray options so that's a big plus. I thought they are different but just the 3rd row option ones are different. I just loaded/unloaded a 7ft Nellie R Stevens Holly tree on mine and the tray made it alot easier . It was in a ball and weighed easily 300 lbs . The guys at the nursery were amazed that it fit and how easy the tray made it to load. Didn't like the tray at first but it has grown on me!Didn't have one on my 4th Gen.

I was not aware of the box, mine came with sliding mechanism and was plug n play. fully extended tray these is hole but it`s not bothering me much.
maybe I should check it that box available by itself.

I removed my tray yesterday and have it for sale. Tray, brackets, hardware, and carpet. $500 shipped lower 48.

Sensor question.
I've read throughout the post and it seems this sensor below the deck has yet to be 100% identified. I have a 2015 4 runner le that has the sliding deck and I want to remove it. Seems straightforward enough but I have two questions:
How much do I need to protect this sensor after I remove the deck? With the deck in place it is pretty well protected from impact etc.
Do we know if this sensor is in the same place on the sr5 models with no deck?

I pretty sure I found it in the repair manual!:50cal: It called a luggage compartment "Electrical Key Oscillator" or a key antenna . I guess it's to pick up the keyless entry signal from the rear of the truck.I had been looking under under crash sensors but they look different.

In the image you show, do you have the P# for the rear floor pad? Looks like that should return this area to the SR5 layout and all i would need after that is a weather tech or husky liner.
