Truck was totaled...
Well, this build has come to a tragic end. My truck was the victim of a hit and run on Wednesday night and has been declared a total loss.
Full story at the end of these pics, but the TL: DR is that it was hit in my apartment complex but his plate fell off and the cops connected him to an earlier fatal hit and run with a pedestrian. He was arrested a day later.
1. I was not in the truck, it was parked.
2. I have full coverage (even extra coverage for the mods)
3. I am buying the truck back as salvage and parting out the mods. EDIT: all parts have been claimed
4. Yes, I could fix the suspension and body work and keep the truck. But I don't want to deal with that as I am unsure of what else could be potentially broken (mechanical or electrical). The truck was hit hard enough to slide over about 5 feet and dislodge the battery and its connections and the front passenger door has trouble opening.

FULL STORY (mostly)
At 9pm wednesday night, I heard a loud accident outside my apartment. It sounded like it came from the street nearby. When I went outside my heart sank. My 4Runner had been hit in the side and pushed into a neighbors truck. The vehicle that hit mine fled the scene. First thing I noticed was that his license plate had fallen off when he hit me (divine intervention?). There was also a witness who described a mid 90's SUV as the one who hit me. I called 911 to report it, they said it may take a long time because the police were responding to a nearby fatal hit and run with a pedestrian who was jogging around the local park. Around 10:30pm an officer finally responded, I gave him the plate and he determined it was registered to an address in my complex and was indeed a mid 90's ford suv. The officer and I go to that address and the people there say that his brother used that suv and he is a drug addict and not welcome at his house and if you find him to lock him up. The officer gets my statement and leaves. Tow truck comes a bit later but they are not confident they can pull the truck on to the ramp without the rest of the suspension collapsing. My insurance cannot confirm if I will still be covered for damage in that situation. The tow truck leaves without my truck and I go to bed.
Fast forward to the next morning, I go out to look at my truck since its light out and notice some possible blood on my fender where I was hit. Shortly later I get a call from the sheriff that thinks the two cases are connected as the descriptions of the vehicles from both match and the 911 calls were 5 mins apart (it was a block away from me). I then tell him about the blood. they send a full forensics team (I wasn't allowed to photograph them) and get the samples from my truck and skid marks on the pavement. At this point it is the only good lead they have on the pedestrian that was killed, and the description of the vehicle that did that matched the description of the truck that hit me. Later on a more competent tow truck driver arrives and takes my truck to the collision place.
The police are still confirming if the blood sample from my fender matches that of the victim, but all logical signs point to that. About noon on that day I find out the suspect was arrested because of the information they got from the scene at my place.
Earlier today after the appraisal, my insurance confirms my truck will be totaled. It is a small price to pay in order to find the sh*tstain who murdered that jogger. So I am happy.
I will NOT be building another 3rd gen. I am setting my sights on a late model 2nd gen Tacoma.
