That's a really unfortunate story all the way around Jim. Sorry about your loss and that it happened in such a terrible way. I'm glad they caught the guy before he could cause more damage, but it sucks that it had to be your truck that took the brunt of the damage and not the Dodge or some other more easily replaced car.

I think you'll like the 2nd gen. My dad has one and the extra space up front is nice, as well as the extra power. I go back and forth on whether I'd do another 3rd gen, a 4th/5th gen, or a 2nd gen Tacoma with my next build whenever that may happen. Having a bed would be nice, you'd be able to throw a low profile bed rack on it and have a RTT that doesn't act as a huge parachute on top of your vehicle.

Your trip through Colorado looks like it was a lot of fun, at least the truck got one last hurrah. Looks like I missed you guys by about 2 weeks. I was out there the week of July 4th.

Anyway, hopefully you stick around. Your attention to detail in your build and knowledge is something we will miss around here.

And not trying to be a scavenger, but are the front coilovers available still? I may be interested in them if you're going to be parting with them.

Jim, I gotta question: did you ever use a diff drop for the front? I'm prepping to put a lift on of 3" in the front and read that it increases wear and tear (I'd prefer to avoid that), but I also read that you shouldn't have to do that... What's your take on it?

The driver may have taken your rig away from you, but he can never take away the inspiration you have given to so many on this forum and of course, in your own personal life. I'm sure everyone in the 3rd gen section always goes back to either your first rig or your most current one, every so often, just to see if they measure up to your attention to detail.

There's a reason the guys plate fell off. His time is up, but unfortunately, not before he took a life (only one that we know of.)

Shocking!! Mine's in the garage and I don't use it as a DD so the risk of accident is minimized but still you can never protect it fully once you bring it into a public roadway, you never know what is out there.
