Running 255 80r17s? Come on in

255/80r17 fit perfect on stock SR5 wheels with OME 884, SPC UCA, and superflex rear springs. Even full articulation wouldn’t make it rub anywhere. After switching to TRD OR wheels the fronts rubbed slightly on the front wheel liner on the bumper, just needed to push the liner forward.

The matching ST MAXX spare barely fits with the V6 hitch. The tire rubbed the pan hard bar slightly when it was new, but fully cleared the bar after a tire rotation or 2.

Apparently only if you have the V6 Hitch.
yew! this was my next question. what's the difference? i have a V8 hitch i need to install on my V6.

people keep saying "push the liner forward" ... what exactly are you doing?

There are a total of 5 screws (2 driver side, 3 passenger side) that need to be removed. Then remove the inserts for the screws also. Now the liner is loose from the bumper where it needs to be.

So with one hand push the liner forward with some decent force, and take a sharpie while using the original screw holes in the bumper as a guide to mark the new holes to be drilled in the liner.
Select the right size drill bit that matches the insert and carefully drill your new holes. I pulled the liner backwards put of the way while I drilled the holes. Remember, the new holes are drilled through the liner, NOT the bumper.

Next you will notice that the inserts won't slide on to the new holes. You will need the trim the edge of the liner so that the inserts clip into the new holes you just drilled. I just used some dikes (gigity). For a couple of the new holes, there is no way to clip the insert into the newly drilled holes. Just take the insert, turn it upside down, line up the holes and use the insert as a nut for the screws.

Lastly, screw the bumper back to the liner whilel pushing the liner foreward to it's new location and walla.

It is very easy to do once you realize what the plan is. Just take you time drilling the holes.

Nice! I do have the v6 and was hoping I could carry a full size spare.

I plan on mounting them on my stock SR5 wheels (30 mm offset) and have spidertrax 1.25" spacers (about 30mm). I believe the TRD OR wheels have about a 15mm offset. Thinking I may need to take off my spacers or do some more significant trimming.

or just shove it forward and screw it in with some lath screws? that sounds easier.

Too wide of a stance will will increase the amount trimming needed.

I got 255/80/17 with spacers only 1 inch front lift

I have Coopers ST max and daystar leveling kit at the front with some generic 2.5 inch wheel spacers. Had to move fender liners forward and remove front mud flaps, trim some fender liners a the back of the front wheel. Virtually no rubbing.

2.5" wheel spacers, damn! i ran 20mm ones on my gti back in the day. H&R spacers all day in that scene

Tire looks flush with fenders, decent looking, I can make some pictures.

I'm surprised you didn't need a BMC with 2.5" spacers.

Regardless, that's good news. Have a similar lift with 1.25" spidertrax spacers. I'm hoping I won't need to remove my spacers and or BMC.

I'm sorry its 1,25" my bad.

What's your suspension setup?

There's a lot of scattered information on people with this tire size. Would like to make a consolidated thread.

I'm wondering if I can pull this off with a 2.5" lift over OEM height (hub to Fender 21 front, 19 rear).

I was running 255/80/17s for a LONG time. Just recently upsized to 285/75/17 several pics on my Instagram, Overland_tennessee I was running Dobinsons MRR coilovers/springs and caster app the way forward with no cutting
