No, they were just standard flat washers about 1" wide. The one closest to the door was a pita to get started. I am also surprised that for $500 they didn't provide locktite for the studs.

Interesting. The cut ones are to avoid pinching the seams on the fender.
They have have shifted the holes in the last revision.

I think we can just grind them ourself in worst case...

I had 2 prototypes, one had 8 holes + 3 A-Pillar holes, second one had 6, and final one, which is what the final product more or less is has 6 but in slightly different spots because of how the molds required re-placement.
So technically my truck has like 10 holes under the snorkel not including the main intake. The cut washer is to avoid stressing the seam above the fender well bump out.
This is the last prototype I had, which I still need to smash. It has a major crack running along the outside area adjacent to the intake portion. I ran my prototypes pretty ragged.

The 5th Gen snorkel sticks out from the body so much more than the one I had on my 100-series. I wonder why.

Because of the design of the fender flare, and the desire to increase airflow into the airbox.
For those of you guys "not feeling" it, sorry.

Guess it doesn't "look" good enough for them, haha. I'm just hoping to turn around a few less times when confidence is low at water crossings, probably never push it to the limit but want more margin of error. :clap2:

Aw.... did I hurt your feelings? Dont take it personal, i live in a place where it floods so I was on the fence, i get the function, i ran them in my other vehicles but it looks like a tumor on the 5th gen.... ill wait for something different or custom... dont be upset I still love your rig

You don't see the tacoma guys *****ing about how this snorkel looks. I guess 4Runner people are more concerned about how their "overland cosplay" gear makes them look fat.

well that isnt saying much... they bought a tacoma instead of a 4runner so their state of mind is questionable lol..... I am all for function over form but I will pause to see what else makes itself available.... till then I will continue to dress up, grow a beard and drive around town with an RTT and an expeditionoverland sticker on my rig:fish::kiss:

I have used Hilux Snorkel designed for 4 cylinder on my 2005 4Runner and don't remember having an issue with airflow. It looked much slimmer then this one, but I'll better have this then nothing.
P.S. I don't think anyone will bring another Snorkel product to the market for the 5th Gen. Safari already concure it.
