Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Cabin overpressure? That's what tanks do in response to chemical warfare. If it's good enough for a tank, it's good enough for my 4Runner.

Trick I picked up from a friend. Basically just don't open the doors or windows until you're in a less dusty environment and it keeps the cabin pretty spotless. I made the mistake of turning on my air vents one time and basically got a face full of dust.

Worse. We tried a couple of them on mine during testing and found the gains were not worth the cost, and I threw some MAF codes a couple of times.

The trick for dusty driving is to blast your AC and then turn on re-circ for the cabin, to create positive pressure in the vehicle, that way air isn't being forced in from the outside.

Less dust inside yes, but you're not going to build any cabin pressure with the HVAC on recirc. The fresh air vent simply closes ( mostly closes) when in recirc.

I'm aware of how it works, but if you can get positive pressure it'll do most of the work, you still have to keep your blower on full to maintain it.

Installed the snorkel today. I started at 3:30 and finished at 8. The biggest pain in the ass was just taking out the fender liner. Pretty stoked to make some runs in the dusty SoCal canyons.

Two holes from 3.25" hole saw and cut the rest of the inlet hole with my Dremel.

Took some better daylight pics. For those who are on the fence or don't like the way it looks, these pics probably won't change your mind. I don't care as long as it works. And the fit and finish is fantastic totally matching the crease line of the fender.

I like it. Agree that people who installs Snorkels are generally people who needs them or may need them at some point. For those people functionality is more important. I tent to agree to the fact that on the black vehicle it may look more concealed.
So far no one put the Snorkel on white...
I'm still waiting for mine, but I'm not in a big hurry as it still cold outside with temperatures bellow zero and snow...

I may be installing one on my white 5th gen down the road. Deciding if black would be better or if a sanded and smoothed white color matched snorkel would be better.

Really, any deeper water than this guy went through and the concern switches over to water getting inside and shorting out electronics, at which point the snorkel won't help. However, it would be nice not clogging the air filter with powder dust in the desert.
