Satoshi Mod restricting airflow to radiator - ??

Hey I have looked and some people have touched on the subject, but I wanna cover my bases before I start cutting and all that.

I was talking to a local sheet metal company about prices for perforated metal sheets. I mentioned to him that I was going to be replacing my grill with the sheet. He warned me about restricting the airflow to the radiator causing overheating issues.

Has anyone had any issues with theirs where this happened? Suggestions on the hole pattern I should get in order to avoid this issue would be greatly appreciated!

I am not going to get expanded metal, because I dont want to see through the metal that much. Trying to get a clean look out of it..

Shouldnt be an issue with a mesh type grille.

I would like to use that mesh, but I am not a fan of how much you can see behind it. I understand that means more airflow. I am looking for a more solid setup...which has its own pitfalls.

Used the small grid aluminum mesh and have not had any signs of overheating in a good amount of 100+ degree weather.

I'll bet that bug sure is pissed you used a tighter mesh...

Definitely use a mesh over perforated sheet metal. The grill insert needs to be somewhat concave to fit / look correct and it would be a pain to form the sheet metal into the correct shape. The mesh molds much easier.

No problems with over heating here as well. I'm running mesh like most folks. Probably more airflow than the OEM grill.

Yes, the perforated metal would be harder to form but the mesh (at least the mesh I used) is weak and comes apart very easily.

No issues with mine at all on my 3rd gen and it's perforated metal from custom car grills with the Raptor letters so it's got a good bit blocking it.

The grill is a dragon fly magnet!

I agree. The aluminum mesh is a bit brittle if you bend it to many times while forming.
