Honestly this photobucket crap couldn't have happened at a worse time for me- I really have no time for "extra stuff" right now- everything is on hold in my life except for the personal issue I am working through.

The support from everyone is unbelievable and overwhelming. It has touched me at a time in my life where I really need it. Many of you are like family to me and will be life-long friends- this is just another example of why.

Please understand if I am not on here much in the near future and it may take some time for me to respond to my massive PM box, lol.

I think I speak for many when I say this but you are the man when it comes to helping others out! Many come to this forum and only take but you sir are the definition of give and take. You probably give much more than you take and you probably give much more than the average person. Your knowledge is invaluable and the members here all know that. I'm sure if the funds were set to double or triple what it was, i feel confident we would of reached the goal.

That said, whatever personal issues you are going through, I hope it is nothing serious and I hope you get everything worked out sir! Best of luck to you and we'll see you back here soon!

Without [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] I never would have learned how to properly wire with the right tools and techniques. Forever thankful!

It's great to see the "4Runner Family" mentality still hanging in there amongst this, at times, chaotic little chunk of internet

You can also embed your photos in your blog by clicking the Embed button, copying the code and pasting it to your blog/website. This feature will credit photographer fully linking back to his/her 500px page. Photos may only be embedded on personal blogs, and not commercial or business websites.

I suppose your build thread is a personal blog for all practical purposes. So they can't pull a Photobucket on you. PB is doing that everywhere btw. The others will follow.

ETA: I just checked a bit more. 500px uses HTML code, so you would have to cut the image link and paste it. Or use a HTML to BBCode parser.

OR... and probably what you should do. Make a Blog and simply link to it for photos. That way, no one can ever pull the rug out from under you again. The forum posts would simply be a mirror of your mod Blog.



It is also possible they have a migration tool for photobucket. I think they had one for Flikr.

Both are good options but I highly recommend using flickr which is also free. A lot of photographers use it for their photos and it is backed by Yahoo if I am not mistaken so they have the bandwidth and won't pull a Photobucket and hold images ransom.
 
Oh God, I've missed something important again. Glad it's sorted out though. We probably should put all important pictures and files on this server. Not sure how much this site costs and who's paying for it, don't know if it's profitable or not, but I guess valuable info like this one help to keeps this site afloat and worth keeping safe.

I'd be more than happy to help keep this site afloat with an annual fee. There is too much valuable information here.

Besides I just start looking at this and noticed that my pictures are gone too. Not that they are especially good and I can restore it and move ti somewhere. But this probably affected other threads too, so check your thread folks if you used phobucket that chances are you have to find a new place to share you pics.
 
On another note I have a website with unlimited space and bandwidth, so if you want something like that, that won't go changing policies down the road I'd be more than happy to set you up with an FTP and all that jazz.

Would allow you to not have photos compressed in quality either, though flickr is very good about not doing that too too much.

Fundraiser Update

Just wanted to let everyone know, the donated funds hit my account this morning. I went to the bank and got a cashiers check for the funds and hand delivered them to Jeff's place. I know he's super busy right now, so give him a bit of time to get it all straightened out with photobucket.

Thank you to all who donated and those who reached out. I know it was over quick and some of you didn't get the chance to donate. I'm super impressed with our little community here.

Once everything settles down some of you smart people can maybe help me with a permanent solution like some of the posts in this thread. There has got to be an easier way to transfer everything that doesn't involve me sitting behind a computer for a month, lol

Regrettably, the only "permanent" solution is to pick up a domain (theantman.org or something) and find a place that has free or low cost hosting. (maybe someone already suggested this, sorry I didn't see it)

Re: photo hosting - www.smugmug.com is the best I have found. Photobucket regularly ****ed me.

Basic sub is $40 a year but honestly, it's worth it. Unlimited pics. Secure. No ads. Super fast. Well structured. It's a small business owned by the guy who runs www.dgrin.com and Adventure Rider and it's what he does, so issues get resolved right now and you can actually communicate with him.

Happy to help out! This is one of the reasons I started my own website, and am slowly transferring my build and adventure information over to that versus the forum exclusively.
