Shrockworks Sliders on Limited

Could anyone help me out? I want to order a set of sliders, and from my brief research it appears there's a lower rocker panel that must be removed before they can be installed. How will this look? I know they are designed for the trail edition. How much is a TE rocker? How hard is it to modify the one on the Limited to work?

Since the SR5 and Limited moldings are the same, I'd check the shrockworks thread for pics. It looks like most just remove the rocker panel and call it good.

In theory that would work, but you're then left with an unfinished panel that looks kind of junky.

Several of us that have SR5/Limited's have sliders.
You have to either take off the rockers completely like Icenomad and Sam did .
Modify it by cutting the bottom couple of inches off level with the frame like BFlan did.
Or take them off and put the TE rocker mouldings like I did. The problem with that is the TE rocker mouldings are made to match up with the front mudflap/flare and the rear flares of the TE which are different then the SR5/Limiteds. I put all the TE plastics on so did'nt have a problem with mudflap/flare mismatch.

These are just the 2 long black plastic pieces.Not sure which is left or right and double check the part numbers with Toyotas parts dept. Those are the ones I used.

The process is very simple. The rockers are just plastic and you can cut with a die grinder, or tin snips however high you would like.

I have sliders that I made myself so am not sure how to cut so Shockworks would fit, but I am sure its possible. Just order the Shockworks, put them on and modify the rockers so they fit. I know it might sound crazy, but sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and make stuff work the way you want it too.

Shrockworks on an SR5. Rocker panels removed...it will work until I can get a bumper on it to hide what's missing. Just go get it dirty and no one will notice. :driving:

Shrockworks on 2010 Limited

I installed the Shrockworks Rock Rails on my limited and ran into a few issues. I had to bend out the hard lines in the front and create a bracket out of a bolt, 2 nylon spacers and a hose-guide with rubber padding.

I also spent 2 weekends cutting the factory rocker panels and used the trimmings to clean up the rockers so it would have a more factory look when reinstalled.

The end result was that there was too much material (especially at the front wheel well) hanging to low and as a result when the truck moves, you would hear the plastic moving. I am now shopping around for the Trail Edition plastic (rockers, fender over molding and mud guard) and my dealer is painting it to match the factory black of my truck.

I would request (if Jim hasn't updated the design already for the Limited) to have the Bolt On gusset on all 4 corners; It means you don't have to mess with the hard lines on the Limited.

I would request (if Jim hasn't updated the design already for the Limited) to have the Bolt On gusset on all 4 corners; It means you don't have to mess with the hard lines on the Limited.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but didn't see any new threads confirming if the new Shrockworks Sliders still need bending of the lines on the limited. Anyone know if this is still the case? Thanks!

yes, regardless of what you do with the rocker panels (I replaced the front fender flares and the Rockers with TE plastic) you will need to bend the xreas hardlines a bit, although that can be brought to a bare minimum by requesting bolt-on gussets on all 4 corners when you order them.

Well I finally had time to put the sliders on my limited today and I am less than pleased. I ordered them during the group buy many months ago but with such a great ski season I didn't get around to putting them on until now. I am having the same issue wtih the hardlines that Okki has and now I have to find a solution. Where did you get your parts for the brackets Okki?

What really ticks me off is that Okki had raised this issue and I was aware of it. Prior to ordering the sliders I checked with Shrockworks about getting all 4 brackets with the bolt on gussets as per Okki's suggestion. Mark from Shrock responded that Okki was "worrying about nothing" and insuated that Okki didn't know what he was talking about. Mark assured me that the hardlines were the same for all 4 runners. I figured I would trust a manufacturer instead of a random internet person, sorry Okki but you never know!

Now I have to go to the store and see if I can find something to use to hold the hardlines out of the way.

If you have a limited I would look for other sliders. This is my first experience with Shrockworks and obviously I am not pleased. The sliders look great and work fine but a manufacturer that ignores issues that others have identified and the fix is easy. I would have paid extra to get the gussetted brackets, now I have to cob something together and hope I don't hurt the hardlines.

The first photo shows the issue, I put a coupe of cable ties on until I can get brackets made to move the hardlines. The second photo is the installed sliders.

I trimmed mine, pretty easy to do. I cut a straight, or tried to cut a straight line directly below the chrome strip. I just knew my rockers were never going to go back if i took them off anyways.

I have left my rockers off for now. Planning on getting the parts from the trail and getting them painted to match but haven't done so yet.

As for the hardlines I bought some hose clamps from Lowes and used those to bend the hardlines out of the way. I would still recommend the shrockworks, I think they are really good. My issue is that shrock knew of the issues with the limited and completely ignored the feedback they were getting. It is very easy for them to provide brackets that clear the hardlines, they already do it for at least one of the brackets so there is no design change. Shrock makes great products but you have to know going in that customer service isn't their top priority. You will wait for awhile to get the product as any google search will prove!

Awesome guys thanks for the responses.

Mike what was your measurement on the trim below the chrome strip? I don't want to trim it 2", then leave a big gap between what is left on the rocker and the mounted slider.

Also, the chrome strip is at an angle and not horizontal to the bottom of the slider. If I measure say 1.5" below the chrome strip all the way across and draw a line for the cut, it will also be at an angle. Is that what I want? Or should my measurement and cut compensate for the angle? (Hope I expained/described that well enough...)

Hell. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much... it's just that when I start hacking at things on a new rig I want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks!
