Hey Gents-
Have a 2020 5th gen with about 44k on it. In the past week, I've noticed that over undulations or driving on uneven surfaces (lawn grass, dirt road, etc.) that there is a muffled -- but audible -- clunking sound from the front end. It sounds like something is loose or that a bushing is going somewhere.
The bushing sounds premature to me, given the year and mileage. So I suspect that something is a little loose up there from a nut/bolt backing off. I've had the truck in the mountains lately and lightly offroad (some loose rock, roots, etc.) and I think that may have caused something to loosen up.
I'm not sure where to look though. I don't have access to a lift, so I'm going to try to get the front up on a jack -- possible on jack stands. My normal approach on this would be to grab each wheel and shake the heck out of it each direction to see if there's any play, but the last time I tried it I found that the wheels and tires are so heavy that moving them plus the linkage isn't easy.
I have no play in the steering at all, and no vibrations. I confirmed that about 20 minutes ago by slowly driving around a field I have behind my house. The clunking is consistent with suspension travel, regardless of if I turn the wheel left or right a little bit, fully, or just leaving it straight.
What are the likely culprits? I'm hoping that when I get it in the air maybe tomorrow that there will be something obvious. But in my experience, I'm rarely that lucky. I have a factory extended warranty, but this doesn't sound like the sort of thing that would cover and in any case it would take me probably 2 weeks to get an appointment.
