SMS messaging

the day I picked up my 4r I got a message on the display announcing an incoming txt. I was offered the option to "listen" to the txt msg. Clicked OK/read and I was read the txt msg in a pleasant voice. Since then I haven't gotten any notices of incoming msg's. How do I turn that notification back on?

Instructions is in the owners manual, I don't know it off the top of my head I gotta look too to turn it off lol
