Lady drove her brand new Beemer off the lot and within 10 minutes straight into the back of me. If they total this out I'm gonna be very unhappy. 2002 w/ 120k in perfect condition. Grrrr

Im not sure if they will total it out unless that slant on the tow package transferred to the frame. Bright side is, take the check from insurance and buy some armor, usually cheaper than replacing it OEM

I sure hate that, always sad to see a nailed Runner.
I'm with the other guys, don't see it being a total. But... if it is, you might not be too unhappy. About a year ago my mom totaled her '02 - it had just a hair over 100k on it, and the insurance company gave her almost 11k.

Ouch. I'm very sorry that happened to your baby.

Is it wrong that I don't even care that a brand new BMW got jacked up?

Dude .... take the FATTEST insurance payout you can get ....

Don't let them total it or if they do insist you get to keep the truck by keeping possesion at all times.

The rear hatch can be found at a junk yard for probably $300 (say scratched a bit) and repainted for like $250 - $400.

You can get new taillights for $150 - $200

You can get a factory looking bumper for $200 (used) - $400 (replacement parts cheap). Or go with a Savage for $450.

More than likely it will be a total I'm sorry to say. Insurance companies look at that and think it'll never close right again and write it off. Sorry about that good luck I hope they don't total it !

Very likely not a total. My 2000 was hit similarly a few months back and they told me with my mileage (131k) and condition would cause it to book for close to $10k. Generally the repairs would need to be 80% of the assessed value for it to be a total loss. Yours is newer with less miles, and I don't see the $6-7k in damage there.

They do factor in mileage, interior and exterior condition, modifications, etc.

I think my trailer hitch saved me. Here is how trashed her car was, antifreeze and tranny fluid everywhere. Her shot wouldn't even go into park.

The Break My Wallet will cost a lot more to fix if it's at all fixable.
She was probably texting or putting on make up.
How the hell do you not see a large green truck in fron of you when sitting in a low vehicle?

The truck can be fixed though. Looks like a bumper & tailgate only.
As long as no ones hurt.

Is this in Anne Arundel county? Looks like an aaco cop cruiser and uniform behind the Beamer, if so I can attest to the ineptitude of drivers in this area....

Based on the look of that BMW and the fact it hit your hitch directly putting almost all the force into your frame .... Your frame is most likely bent.

I wouldnt says its bent just yet. You want to find another 4runner and measure front to back side to side of the frame and see if it matches up. Real easy to do . Years ago my brothers Eclipse got slammed from lady pulling out in front. He got back almost 4k for the damage. We got bumper from junkyard, spot painted bumper and with the rest of the money he got FMIC, new turbo, piping, EMS, his car went from 300whp, to 450whp overnight. LOL.

Glad the humans are ok

Looks like one of those offset impacts like they just tested and released results, interesting. Not sure about ur state, but I texas when a vehicle is declared totaled, the owner gets the opportunity to buy it from the insurance for 15% of value, so depending on the vehicle/impact area that can be really good or bad. Looks to me like urs would fall into the really good (all the important parts - engine/tranny so forth are fine); urs is mostly cosmetic yet can total cuz of the age/value....Luck!
