Someone just hit my rig!

Mine came from Kentucky, where they don't use salt on the roads...made its way up to Indy. So it is possible, although rare, to find one with little to no rust.
 
Some one backed into my bumper in a kroger parking lot and drove off, I begged Kroger to pull the cameras but they said they wouldn't. Hit and runs are a b***.
 
Yeah. Rust is always th issue up here. But its not impossible to find. The wrecked one I have has minimal rust and spent all but 2 of its 16 years in pa. Garage kept...undercoated and care go a long way. But they actually both have.lockers I believe. The black one doesn't have it listed but if you look at the pic of the steering wheel you can see the button....only worry with the silver one other then rust. Which is a worry for both is maybe an ac leak? Do they happen alot on runners. I haven't seen many cases but I've only been in the runner world since november.

Oh and no biters on any leesburg va residents? Lol could be a case of beer in it for you.
 
Ya it could have an AC leak. I haven't seen too many threads about that though. I've had to recharge all my vehicles though. None of them had bad leaks, and the one recharge worked for them. Haven't had to do that with the 4Runner though.
You may want to post something in the general section about someone near Leesburg lloking at the 4Runner for you...bit of a larger audience.
Another positive of the 1st is the silver color. Black can be a PITA to keep clean and scratch free. I've had 2 black vehicles and will not go back. The lighter ones just seem to look cleaner longer.
 
Thanks man, ilk definitely post up over in the general didn't think of that. And in regards to color, I actually love the black one. And I clean my cars religiously so I really don't seeing that being much of a problem.
 
alright a couple more updates.

1. the police couldnt get our suspect to fess up but are investigating further and are going to interview the alleged passenger. really hoping they can get them to admit to some things so i can get my deductible back from the insurance.

2. the insurance have officially deemed my 4runner a total loss and are sending a company to pick it up. they valued it at 4,603 which is right about the base price i paid, which is low because i got a great deal for the condition it was in. i have looked up a few on autotrader to use for reference in negotiating tomorrow. going to try to get them to bump the value up to 5000.

3. ive been in contact with the owner of that first 4runner. the desert dune limited w/locker. it seems like a great truck and im probably gonna go after it once i get the funds etc. just have a few questions.

A. how hard is the back latch to fix? ive seen write ups and such but havent ever looked through them.
B. has anyone done the taco whip with salvage yard parts and if so do you have an approximate price?
C. What is involved with recharging the ac? and how might i go about finding a leak if it is bad?

I agree. Strip it bare! You think I'm joking. Get as much off of your crunched 'Runner as possible. It is now a donor car for your next one. Take the drive shafts, transmission, t. case...I mean everything you can.

About the listings: I'd go with the first one you found with the locker. Those were options when new and never came stock with them unless asked for. I'd die for a locker on my base model 4cyl auto. trans. 'runner.

i would love to, but its actually not getting crushed. its headed to a salvage auction cuz its in pretty good shape. otherwise i would. sorry guys.
 
Man, I hope they pin the guys and you get a good rate for your "wrecked" vehicle. :(

I dread getting hit, because the time and money put into my vehicle would make the insurance book price offensive. :wow:

I think the same thing. Not to mention there's no way I could get the same vehicle around here for the blue book price.

Word of advice... I looked at two runners this guy had before i bought mine, and he's... sketchy, at best. He knows nothing about cars other than looks good. He sent me 60+ pics of each truck, but when i asked for specific pics/info, he got kinda defensive and started the old "its 13 years old, its not perfect" etc. I got bad vibes over the phone, so i went a different route. Just my .02 cents. I'm in Va, but Leesburg is 2-3 hours away. If it were closer Id GLADLY look at it for you. If mileage doesnt scare you, i know where there is a 97 with 280k, 4wd, anthracite grey for 2500 obo in Richmond... Just throwing it out there. Sorry to hear of your loss. Ive been there, and I fell you on the desire to :gun4: the a-hole...
