I just replaced all of the speakers in my 4Runner. The components in the front are an excellent choice. The only thing I did was use the cross over to remove bass from he front mid. I am going to go back and put the bass back in to complete the sound. But over all, after market kills the factory crap.

Installed aftermarket speakers today
2016 TEP ETUNE Premium radio, I was surprise how decent the factory speakers set up is, today I received the FOCAL 6X9 TOY Speakers installation was pretty easy had to played a little with the screws to secure the speakers used the factory screws no modifications, plug and play comes with extra harnesses. Next ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH PS12. Speakers sound is great the price is high for these speakers for them to be made in RPC instead of France. I had a set of FOCAL component speakers they were made in France. The magnets were different. Bottom line Sound is good need to fill the lows with a sub I might throw my JL XD in the mix and run 5 channels front, rear and sub a JL 12" V3. I have the bug lol
These speakers are 4ohms, 2to75 watts RMS, and like power they sound better with an amp

The bug is crazy! lol I end up doing a full JL c2 system with my factory radio with the JL fix-82 Processor..

Nice. Its hard to stop once you start. I haven't heard of the JL fix82 until today, it looks somewhat similar to the JBL MS8. I love the MS8, it really helped the staging and gave it more of a natural eq.
The JL fix82 is new to me too. I just looked up the manual and it appears to only have 2 channels out. If it only has 2 channels, time alignment on the output side could only do a left and a right grouping. The MS-8 will time align 8 channels on the output side. The MS-2 may be a better comparison.

Looks like the Fix82 main purpose is to remove factory EQ & time alignment and feed the signal to a "real" DSP for fine tuning. I'd say this is bogus. Skip it unless you really care about Sound Quality. Use a real DSP and do not use auto tune. Do it right. Do it yourself with an RTA app. Just my opinion.
For most people, just changing the speakers will give you more improvement than you would imagine.

need front door speaker advice
I have a 2011 SR5 with stock head unit non JBL
Immediately changed dash speakers to Infinity Kappa 329. Loved the difference.
Now 4 years later I am tired of the stock receiver with the gray on orange display that you cannot see in sunlight or when wearing sunglasses.
So I just ordered a Kenwood receiver DDX373Bt to get a touch screen display and more power. I also ordered new kenwood 6x9 5way speakers for the front doors.
I think I am safe with the new head unit, but am I making any mistakes putting these 5way 6x9s in the front doors? I am no audiophile and don't want to do lots of rewiring, amps, etc. Any advice is appreciated.

I put 6x9's in my front doors with no rewiring required. You will need to buy or make adapters, though. Plenty of posts here on how to do it, including templates if you decide to make your own.

Im sure you will like the new head unit, it should sound much better.
For the 6x9s... they will be easy to install, especially if you get premade adapters. Me personally I would go with a nice component setup. It would sound better in most people's opinion. You would probably want to run them off an amp though which is more money and work to install.
I guess it comes down to how much you like the sound of your current setup and how much money you want to spend.

Hey guys quick question for my cargo door speakers nothing fancy just need to replace , bought used & prior owner must have used party mode A LOT , so now they just rattle like crazy ! In your opinion go oem replace or upgrade ? Not into lots of hassle plug n play is cool ? Thanks

"IMHO" replacing the 4Runner's oem speakers with factory replacements would be like: replacing a worn out timing belt which has already seen 90,000 miles of usage, then purchasing a used timing belt from a salvage yard that has 89,000 miles of usage on it because the price tag says "Only $5.00"!" My point... Sometimes there are other key factors to be considered that are more substantial then the $$!

Go with aftermarket. The aftermarket speakers will likely cost less than OE and will sound so much better. They're simple to install. If I remember correctly, you can use the original speakers as a template/adapter for the aftermarket ones.

Well first you should tell us what your current stereo setup is to give us a better idea of what to advise...
Many Car AV pros don't run rear speakers at all or they just run them as rear fill. Before I got my DSP I unplugged my rear speakers and it sounded better, and if I asked my passengers they couldn't tell that I didn't have rear speakers.
So if money, time, or installation skills are an issue you could always try just unplugging the rear speakers and see how that sounds.
If you do want to replace the speakers here is my opinion...
You can order these 6.5" adapters and these speaker wire adapters and it will maker your install a breeze. Many people here like infinity speakers, The reference 6.5" are cheap and will sound good. That's everything you need for about $135.

Stock HUD & speakers oem ! My worry/question is are cargo door speakers playing with/at same time as others (not n party mode) ? Mine rattle like hell under normal play so reason i'm looking for an upgrade ? Thanks ! Don't want anything outrageous . 135$ sounds ok

It matters how much you want to get into audio. If you are just looking for a simple solution to your rear speaker rattling then replacing them is a easy fix. BUT...
If your front speakers are OEM I would replace them too. I wouldn't want to have a higher quality speaker behind me. I use my rears as fill, they play at a lower volume than my fronts.
I would want the cleanest and loudest sound coming from the front speakers. At bare minimum I would replace the dash speakers. The infinity's that alot of the guys used to use are discontinued. These infinity 3.5" or These polk 3.5" will both work, the polks being half the price and both are very easy to install.
If you really wanted to get some good sound you could add a component setup to the front. These are a great price and would sound great. The only problem is that it would require some install skills and ideally they would be running off an amp.
Bottom line: Get the polk 3.5" for the dash as well. it will only add $45 and it will be the most noticeable improvement to your sound.
