Purchased T4R about 6 years ago and from day one, there was something small rolling around from within the wheel. I didn't think much of it because it didn't affect vehicle performance. Every time I rotated the tires, it annoyed me a bit but not to the point where I wanted to take it down to a tire shop to diagnose.
Decided to pull the plug and figure out what was making the noise. The tire shop adviser at the front counter initially thought it was a TPMS sensor that had come loose but I could tell the object was small and cylindrical in shape. Surprised to see it was a small hunk of hard rubber. The service tech knew exactly what it was and said it starts off as a bit of rubber that is left over from the tire molding process. It falls off and then forms into a ball as the tire is rotated. Never heard of this.
These are OEM Michelin 265/60/R18 tires. Interesting!!
