Same here - I tried the 4286's, but they still didn't open the liftgate fully consistently. So I switched to the 6815's, and the liftgate practically flies open. It's more of an effort to close the liftgate, but I still prefer this to the headbanging (though Scorpions are just fine by me).

. Fine, I'll put you down for the 6815s, but no doubt you'll want more than that, right?I did some rough calcs on how much $$ parting out can bring, it's sadly beginning to look like a not so bad option if things go from bad to worse. But it'll be hard to do that to a perfectly running truck.

I installed the 6815 version today and they are a great improvement. Door now opens quickly and all the way up - closing it is a bit firm but not bad at all. I highly recommend.

I just tried to install these 6815 supports, and upon final install, the hatch does not stay lifted. not does it open on its own. either I got two bad ones, or these are the wrong ones.
would it be possible to get two brand new supports that are bad???
EDIT: after calling customer support at LiftSupportsDepot, they had me do a pressure test. very scientific, and very complex. (i put my body weight on it). the results uielded one bad strut. The PT#6815 struts should not budge under body weight. they are sending me a new one via express mail for free. and I dont have to send the bad one back.:reddance:

Had the same issue as you, put an OEM one back on and it works better than 2 OEM ones....

I thought about trying that. Two good 6815s are almost TOO strong on a stock liftgate.

interesting. ill know when the second 6815 arrives. but that is a good idea. I do have a couple half decent OEM supports in storage.

I kinda wish both of my 6815's were good, but thankful only one of my OEM's was bad. Amazon customer service was great, and refunded me half the money.

I've only seen the 6815 sold in pairs while 4286 can be purchased individually.

Just installed the Strongarm 6815 set on the hatch today. Great improvement over worn stockers. I also did the nylon bushing/insert and that worked awesome as well. No more saggy hatch to attack my head when I'm not looking!
The lift supports were from Amazon (pair) and the bushing was picked up at Lowe's. $50 roughly and that hatch is solid now. Woohoo!
