Sunroof leaks but doesn't operate? Pull the headliner, seal it with silicone!

I'm not sure it was rust. I think it was probably just staining from dirty, stagnant water that got trapped in the sunroof and then overflowed. Probably some mold too.

That car lived most of its life in coastal South Carolina, so road salt wasn't really a concern until I got it and brought it up to Kentucky.

Thanks. Indeed on mine it looks like some sort of dirt or mould growth.

What the is head lining made from, above the trim cloth? Some sort of fibreboard composite? Was yours softened or weakened anywhere?

Something like that, and it was holding up fine. I prob hurt it more taking it out than the water ever did.
