Take the plunge?

I found what I've been looking for but I'm a little hesitant. Located a local to me 2015 magnetic gray trail with KDSS. Dealer is asking $39,700 but I'm sure there is a rebate or some wiggle room in the price. I would be trading in my base model 2007 jeep JK. As far as I can roughly estimate I would only have about $750 left over in my monthly budget after financing the new 4Runner. That's cutting it a little close for my liking. However I've got the fever BAD. Should I push this burning desire down or pour some gasoline on it.

Coming from a jk this is a good upgrade and i don't regret it one bit. That said , never cut it so close money controls your life.

Be patient. There will always be another "deal" and there's no unique new car so you'll be able to find another one when you are ready.

Yea it's already been said but if you spend more than say a quarter of your monthly take on a vehicle that's prob a bad idea.

I traders in a JK Rubicon on the 4runner and don't regret it at all

I would say wait, knowing nothing of the details of your finances having $750 in free cash flow a month is good, more then I would bet most americans living pay check to paycheck have but we have no idea how well you have budgeted for entertainment, travel and vacations, maintenance expenses or how much you are saving and those things/general overruns can easily eat that up and if there is no cushion I couldn't sleep at night. I think the above advise is on the spot and from your posts I think you are on board with the "right" answer is to wait little while longer and then purchase.

....and if you buy it you are likely going to get the bug and want to spend money on un needed but cool things like tires, sliders, lift, skids, gear, lights, compressors, racks, re gearing, winches etc...

How old are you? Is your retirement fully funded, house paid for and money saved for your kids college cost? If so go buy the new 4runner.

That seems really, really high to me. Is that what most people are paying? I got the exact Trail w/KDSS I wanted for $36,200.

wait

wait, put a big down payment in and get a lower month to month.
that said i should have bought my white trail premium with kdss in flagstaff. i paid 40+TTL.

I also used to have a JK Rubicon and this is definitely a better vehicle. I miss the off-road clearance, but there are way more pros than cons when it comes to the 4runner.

Dude, don't spend money that could be bettering your home life, being used for savings, or a rainy day on a damn truck... or get one of those 7 year loans where you're still owing 25 grand when the warranty has long turned to dust.

Why people buy new (out side of because used isn't available) is beyond me. It's a losing battle
I bought new because I wanted to know the history of the vehicle form day 1 and because I wanted to be the only person to fart in it
