Temporary Cool Thread Sticky

If you guys think it's a good idea I will move certain threads up and sticky them, provided they meet a few criteria:

1. They have to be cool and interesting to the general 5th gen members and
2. They have to have a definitive start and end date.

For example, 3wbdriver thread on his epic trip a few years ago. Or a meet and camping at the Cove that Antman organizes. If someone is taking an epic trip, (not to Grandmas house two hours away down I95) planning to enter a contest or overlanding adventure or something like that that will pique everyone's interest then let me know in this thread. I will then sticky that thread so we can all follow along. When the trip, race, adventure is over then I will un-pin it and use that spot for the next adventure. Any interest?

A real supercharger?!

Great idea Greg!

I'll take you up on that when I get the trip info together for this Fall. This may reach a lot more people !

Sounds great to me! You could do a "Live from Overland Expo" feed for the people going (including myself) for us to post photos and such of new 5th gen overland gear spotted so that others can see what's new.

Good idea. Then I could go straight to the good stuff without having to wander thru the "blacking out the door handles" or "adding a led bar to the hood scoop" type things.

Start a thread on it and I will sticky it. You guys can update it regularly. When the Expo is done I will un-pin it and wait for another interesting one. If we have two things going at once I will sticky both.

You could possibly add a second entry to the build and adventure thread sticky, and place links to the older ones in there. Then people could see what has already been done to get their own ideas for planning trips. It is after all titled as a Build and Adventure thread.

“‘adding a led bar to the hood scoop’”.... that kills me...:hand:

Great idea tho. Would be nice for meet-up’s and events (etc.) to be easy & quick to find without (accidentally) stumbling upon it on pg 7 when you haven’t been on the site in several days...

Just waiting on someone to tell me what to put up there first...

We have that new guy going cross country on dirt roads, that's pretty cool. Should he be first?

Dude has never even gone camping before and decides to strap up and quit his job to go on a solo cross country trip? That deserves a spotlight.

Yep. I love the trip threads with lots of pictures. Since my job rarely allows that "vacation" word I get to live vicariously through others. I am doing Seattle to San Francisco and back with my girlfriend in a month, but that will be in a rental car so not fit for T4R consumption. :-)

A real supercharger?!

Why do I feel like you sometimes wake up from dreams of having just installed a supercharger? I have this mental picture that you are driving down the road with your dogs ears flapping in the wind both of you grinning ear to ear only to be jolted awake. (You may not have a dog but its what I envision so go with it)

:sleep::sleep::sleep:

Refresh my memory...

You and I were curious if we could make "Shortcut" Sticky links to post in other sub-forums for the "Toolbox" Sticky in the 4th gen. So say when someone in the 5th gen section clicks the sticky link there, they get referenced to the original sticky in the 4th gen. That way you're not copy/pasting an entire thread every time in the sub-forums and if/when I update information in it I don't have to bug admins to update ALL the stickies.

It could also be useful for consolidating generic stickies that apply to multiple sub-forums and could theoretically reduce total severe space used since you are using shortcuts vs. multiple threads.

You said you would look into it and I never heard back.

Yes we can.
