I've tried looking everywhere for diagrams and or pictures showing what screws the side corner lights use, but I have yet to find any information with a part number. I recently bought a '96 but the last owner duct taped the side corner lights onto the car because he didn't have the screws for them. So, I am trying to find the part numbers so that I can buy them and put them on.

Each corner light has one screw holding it in place, PN 90168-40122.

So recently I swapped my 15in rims out for 17in rims and found the rear drums and inside of the wheels to have lots of oil on them. It is time to replace the rear after spinning the wheel and hearing clicking in the rear differential. My plan is to go to a pick-n-pull junkyard and swap the whole rear out.

My issue comes in identifying what kind of rear differential my 4runner has, it has no numbers of stamps to confirm its type. I read on the forums that 3rd gen 4runners all used the same V6 rear diff/gear ratio, but there is also the ABS to consider which I don't know if my 4runner has or not (I see the ABS light but I assume that could be manufacturer simplicity). My 4runner is a 1997 3.4L V6,4x4, SR5 package if that helps.

does anyone know what the difference in exhaust headers is for say a 99 4runner vs a 00 tacoma? both 5vzfe auto's.

I can find some headers for Taco's (JBA 95-00 Toyota 3.4L V6 w/o EGR 1-1/2in Primary Raw 409SS Cat4Ward He) but their sites (and customer service) say they won't fit the 3.4l 4runner.

Mine has a 1.5" body lift which I've heard makes a bit more room than normal, but i'm not sure it matters since my heads will be off during the install anyway

Thanks for the insight, I will check if I have those sensors. For the gear ratio on my vin, I just checked and its A/TM: A02A/A340F. Do you know if that code is for a rear end from a Tacoma model of the same year?

Update: I checked the rear differential case number stamped on it: 35140 71B

Not sure but A02A is 3.91 gear ratio probably from a tacoma. Not sure if any 3rd gens came with 3.91. 2wd drive models came with 3.73. Hopefully some one with more knowledge can chime in.

Have people found discrepancies that are similar to the values on the VIN (i.e. the code doesn't match up with the results of a spin test/during the actual swap)?

Doing the spin test will eliminate any doubt.

My buddy has a '02 limited and his driver seat's leather and cushion are shot beyond redemption. Does anyone on this board sell matching leather seat covers? I wonder if Toyota still sells the bottom and back cushion for the 3rd gens? I was able to buy them for my 4th gen seat, about seven years ago.

Okay so I have a 1999 Toyota 4Runner 3.4 we have replace spark plugs, coils, wires, mass, airflow sensor and fuel injectors after all of that it started blowing rocks Megan runnin lean to the point of 100 miles to tank take it back to the shop. The guy said that the O2 sensor had zero voltage for the upstream but he wasn’t sure if it wasn’t the fuel regulator so we replace that he says that the O2 sensor is fine now do you think I should replace the O2 sensor or maybe check the wiring first?
After the fuel regulator, it’s not blowing as much bike smoke, but gas mileage is still no better and it’s still blowing black smoke just a minor amount

I want to replace the fluid with the exact kind that came out of it, but I'm having a hard time deciding what I should use. The owner's manual says to use DEXRON 2 but the Toyota dealership said to use Toyota/Lexus OEM Transmission Fluid. Help would be appreciated!

Any transmission fluid that is Dexron III compatible. The general consensus is to avoid using Toyota T-IV or Toyota ATF WS. A lot of people recommend Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc. I used Dexron VI in my automatic and didn't have any issues during my 2 years owning it.

OK, that makes sense. I know it's been a long time since it was last serviced and I just don't want to screw anything up by using the wrong or bad tranny fluid. I think I'll go ahead the Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc stuff. The girls got 287,000 miles on her and I don't want her to quit! Thanks for your help! Oh, one more thing, any idea how many quarts the tranny holds?
