Some pics from my weekend trip to the High Uintas!

I kid you not, I woke up in the morning, looked out the back window, got up and looked out the front window, and there was this big cow standing right there, staring right at me. Not what I expected to see! He didn't move off until I grabbed my camera.

The weather was incredible. Hardly any mosquitos, so I got up on the rack and chilled under the stars for a while. It was actually pretty comfortable once I threw my sleeping pad and pillow up there. I left the sunroof open all night, just to have the view of the stars (I sleep in the back of my 4R). Didn't get too cold at all during the night.

The axe saw some use widening up the trail

I can't go sharing all the secrets over the internet, otherwise my refuge ceases to be... You will have to find your own adventure! But you will be the happier for it when you do and succeed, you know, in the spirit of capitalism and all that. Besides, read the last sentence in my original post and try try googling one of those lakes with "ut" attached. :gun6:

If you went up there Sa****ay night, I think I saw you driving up Parley's Canyon in the early evening. I was admiring a TE that looked just like yours as it was heading east, anyway.

Fairly comfortably. I am 5'10" and fit diagonally just barely. I use a camping pad for cushion, I was thinking of eventually laying down some thick foam back there and cut to perfect size. This time of year is NICE in the high elevations. Frost has killed most of the mosquitos, but some nights still stay decently warm. So I was able to leave the sunroof open all night without bugs all over my face, it was great. Also, no wind in my business. Almost as good as sleeping under the stars, but in a fortress of a vehicle. Good times...

Anyway, if you happened to notice an all black Hayabusa near the bottom of Parley's, that was me. You were running a good pace, so I hung back a bit to let you run interference.

Your 4Runner looks good going down the road.

:bravo::bravo: :iagree: I figure secret spots are disappearing fast enough without my help. Besides, most of the fun is in the adventure of discovery, don't you think?

A little mesh over the opening secured with button or bar magnets and you can hang out reading with a head lamp or any light source and the bugs can only look in with their noses pressed against the window, lamenting all the harassment they're missing out on.

Yeah, sleeping at elevation this time of year with the moonroof open.........heaven.
