I haven't been to a TDS run since the early '70's.
I had a Jeep shop at that time (California 4WD Center Inc,) and took my V-6 CJ5 on the run and darn near loosened or plain sheared off most of the body mounting bolts on one portion of the run.
Also managed to stand it up on the front bumper coming off one hill.
After the run my club, Ghost Riders, went down to the Salton Sea and literally drove our vehicles into the public showers to clean everything off.
One of the most fun times I have had with my clothes on.
I also took a stock 1959 Willys Jeep Wagon with a flathead 6 and three speed on the run and still had fun.
Go and have fun!
The Randsburg Roundup is also another fun run.

The TDS Safari at Truckhaven is about 10 miles north east of where we were in Ocotillo. Its basically a "choose your own adventure" area. Just like San Diego 4Wheelers' Superstition 7 , there are a plethora of different runs each at different levels of difficulty, from SUV runs to "lets go break stuff" runs.
Never been to the TDS Safari, but from what I read in the registration. Saturday looks like an easy run, not sur how easy, but it sounds like there are more optional harder bipasses.
The Rough Run is on sunday but there are some easier alternate runs that head to calcite mine, south to pumpkin patch and washes around Truckhaven.
It looks like TDS has some safety requirements.
One of the best aspects of the large club meets are the raffle. Theres going to be about $50,000 worth of prizes. Unlike Superstition where you can buy as many tickets as you want, TDS is one ticket per person so the odds increase. Unfortunately this puts the registration price up a bit higher $45-$70.
IMO I cant see myself paying $70 to get stuck in a line with 40 Jeeps. I say we just set up our own TR4 trip out there sometime, But if enough people from Yotatech and TR4 attend the Safari I might tag along.
